For those who love to follow the history and current issues of the wolves, you will love this DVD. I would also order "In the Valley of the Wolves", filmed in Yellowstone Park in 2006. I liked the production and logic of the documentary. I did not like the format on my TV. Maybe because I have a "plain" flat screen TV without high-def ... but the film had a border around it. I have watched other IMAX films without this distraction.
I was disappointed so much time went to historical persecutions of wolves, but that is a dark part of american history: how the settlers/government persecuted Indians, wolves and buffalo to near extinction. One of our national disgraces, really. Not expected on a feature on "wolves".
I have to allow for others who may not have been in nature conservation like I was, though.
Maybe this will inspire someone to sponsor a wolf, and learn even more. the program is online, just search on google.
I learned a few things about wolves, which is saying something for someone who studied to be a veterinarian!
Shows how Nez Perce are helping reestablish wolves today.
Worth a look. Not too violent for most kids, though there is footage of a hunter shooting a wolf at close range, in BW film.
DVD Review: Weird format on Plasma screen

This is great film at an IMAX theater, but for some reason, when you plug in the DVD, you have this weird smaller square in the middle of the screen showing the movie, surrounded by a still background. The movie takes up about 2/3 of the screen. I can't explain it. I have a regular 42" Plasmas TV, I don't have the same problem with other DVD's. DVD Review: we are not alone

And that is the way it was and is intended. Sharing this planet with other persons (we call animals) is essential to our well being. WE are all related and what happens to any spoke in the wheel of life will surely come to impact on the rest of us. This film should be required viewing at an age when opinions on the value of life is being determined. DVD Review: Wow, is the only reaction to this masterpiece.

Well, this is a quick review, well the first one, since I own this movie, and it's amazing, anyone who ever like wolves, and would like to know more, or see them in their environment must have this DVD.The story, well it's a documentary, but it's very rich, from normal basic info on the wolves themselves (like life span, birth etc...) All the way to the complex human relation toward the wolves, which is sad in general.
Quality, definitely a 10/5 it's just unbelievable, some scenes are so detailed, it's never been seen like that before on DVD (since IMAX is so big, once shrunk for DVD/T.V. screen, the details are just the most mazing thing ever.
Music, perfect, the Native music match exactly what it should be, and the richness of it, touch our harts, and fallow the life of the wolves.
Last, the extra, a whole 1h + movie on the wolves from the park, and (as indicated on the DVD) extra deleted scene from the original presentation, trailers for wolves and others IMAX DVD, it's a must have!!!
So why are you still ready, go buy it, watch it and enjoy it !!!
