DVD Reviews of What About Bob?DVD Review: Excellent movie Summary: 5 StarsThis movie puts into perspective for me of how much one person can make a difference in someones life. How being surrounded by others is helpful as well lifting each other up and having fun. Doing other things. Making new friends and at the same time in this movie Bill Murray never loses his comedic sense of humore when he drives Richard Dreyfuss insane with his presence and constant persistence. Hanging out with his family all the time and it drives Richard Dreyfuss batty. This movie is very lighthearted and fun. It's what life to me is about having fun and overcoming whatever is the problem for someone it can be done and then get on with life... having fun in the process. :)
DVD Review: Great movie Summary: 5 StarsWhat About Bob? is a classic comedic performance by Bill Murray. If you like him or Richard Dreyfuss, you will enjoy!
DVD Review: What about parents who let a strange man spend the night in their son's bedroom? Summary: 3 StarsI know some people will say I'm nitpicking, but I couldn't get it out of my head how the parents let a STRANGE MAN spend the night in their ten year-old son's room. After that scene, everything seemed even more unbelievable. And by the time the climax happened, (Too outrageous-I.M.H.O.) I just wanted it to end.
I am a Bill Murray fan, but didn't like this movie very much. I bought it cheap so it's no big deal, but in hindsight I should have just rented it.
And I think Richard Dreyfuss is under rated in this. I find him funnier than Bill Murray in this film. His sarcastic comments are wickedly funny. I don't blame him for being annoyed with Murray, who has some good lines but his character is just TOO weird for me to laugh at.
DVD Review: What about Leo? Summary: 5 StarsCan a movie in which a temporarily insane psychiatrist tries to blow up his adoring patient be good family comedy? Yes, if the movie is WHAT ABOUT BOB? This is one of the funniest movies ever thanks largely to the great performances of Bill Murray as Bob a phobic but good hearted patient and Richard Dreyfuss as Leo his pompous therapist. The film starts in Manhattan where Leo is eager to push his recently published self help book "Baby Steps" on his new patient, Bob. Leo and his family leave for vacation at a lake in New Hampshire and Bob soon trails along after them much to Leo's dismay. In New Hampshire the tables begin to turn as Bob becomes happy and confident while Leo becomes neurotic and finally murderously psychotic. It all ends happily with Bob literally joining Leo's family. There are a few "bad" words and phrases uttered by Bob and Siggy, Leo's twelve year old son in their attempts to conquer their fears through pretending to have Tourette's Syndrome but nothing else is especially objectionable in the film. This is a very very funny movie in the vein of another Bill Murray classic GROUNDHOG'S DAY.
DVD Review: Hilarious. Summary: 4 StarsWhat About Bob? starring Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss is such a harmless and fun film. The chemistry between these two guys is magic, they play off of each other so well. Murray is so whiny, annoying, and amusing, you'll love him in this! Dreyfuss is a great actor, he can play any kind of role. I highly recommend this comedy. Enjoy!
Description of What About Bob?Comic wizard Bill Murray (CRADLE WILL ROCK, THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS) teams up with Academy Award(R)-winner Richard Dreyfuss teams up with (Best Actor, 1978, THE GOODBYE GIRL) in an outrageously wild comedy that's sure to drive you off the deep end! Murray plays Bob Wiley, a troubled but lovable therapy patient who fears everything! After seeking help from noted psychiatrist Dr. Leo Marvin (Dreyfuss), Bob feels revived. But when the good doctor skips town to go on a quiet family vacation, Bob, afraid of being alone, follows -- showing up unexpectedly at the therapist's lakeside retreat. That's when the fun really begins! Bob innocently becomes the houseguest who just won't leave -- endearing himself to the other family members ... and, in the end, driving the stressed-out shrink absolutely crazy!
