"We're all angels" is a compelling documentary about the gay Christian musical duo Jason and deMarco. While Jason was raised Pentecostal, and even was part of the CCM (Contemporary Christian Music) scene, deMarco was raised Catholic. Their backgrounds are a study in contrasts. Jason remembers the contradictory messages of homosexuality being condemned--but allowing sex-segregated swimming, so he could be with other boys. DeMarco reminisces that as a Catholic, he wasn't taught hellfire. Some would argue that he typifies the post-Vatican II church that soft-pedals homosexuality and Hell.
"We're all angels" shows the issue of homosexuality and Christianity mainly from the couple's perspective- those who disagree are simply haters. There are the usual loudmouthed protesters in the opening sequence... but there aren't the complicated nuances of reparative therapy, the whole "ex-gay" movement, NARTH (quite relevant considering the recent resignation of George Rekers), and the Catholic group Courage (which encourages celibacy instead of "reparation") "We're all angels" also shows the effort in the music industry. The duo tour on cruise ships, perform at galas, work on the production of their album. They're artists.
