DVD Review: Never thought I'd love it like I do
Summary: 5 Stars
I saw the preview for this film, and I wasn't interested in seeing it even with heavy hitters like Mike Epps, Martin Lawrence, Mo'Nique and Cedric the Entertainer. I was convinced it would be a team of people trying to outdo each other than a real film, and it took me over two years to see it. I couldn't have been more wrong. The plot of the film was Roscoe Jenkins, a talk show host, who has a new and (creepy) energetic girlfriend from the show "Survivor," is going home for a family visit. His family is super country, and he's trying to balance his reputation with their antics. All of the comedians in the film didn't let me down at being funny, but what threw me was how funny Joy Bryant was as Bianca Kittles. I would've never thought she'd work so well as Martin Lawrence's girlfriend, but she was just as goofy as him. Mo'Nique wore some of the absolute worst outfits and said the most inappropriate things, and I laughed every single time. James Earl Jones and Margaret Avery held their own, too, and I was a little concerned about them in a comedic film this nutty.
But you haven't seen anything until you've seen the outtakes. Michael Clarke Duncan, Mo'Nique and Mike Epps truly clowned. Michael Clarke Duncan talking about raising children was awful. I cracked up. I watched the deleted, extended and behind-the-scene extras more than I watched the film. If you haven't seen it, it's great for an easy laugh.
