Blu-ray Reviews of Wanted (Limited Edition Collector's Gift Set) [Blu-ray]Blu-ray Review: Excellent Collector's Set Summary: 5 Stars
Wanted defines the term "over-the-top". This film has some of the most ridiculous action scenes and far-fetched gunfights I've seen since The Matrix in 1999. You've got two amazing and original car chases, lots of intense and downright awesome shootouts, an engagingly deep story, and quite a few interesting characters. The actors all do a great job, especially James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman. Angelina Jolie was just there to look good and didn't do much. I highly recommend seeing this film, even if it's just for the action scenes. And if you like the film, also check out the video game: Wanted: Weapons of Fate. It captures the feel of the film perfectly and is really fun to play.
From a collector's edition standpoint, this set is very well done. It comes with some really great special features and collector's items, such as the acrylic film cell and the lobby cards. Everything comes packaged in a solid case lined with some fancy fabric, which is house by a thick plastic sleeve with a bullet lodged in it. My only complaint is the storage of the discs. They attach to a cardboard shooting range target and just sit in the case. The discs will not get damaged or anything, it just feels awkward when removing it from the case. They should have just included a standard case to store the discs in. Other than that, the set is great and definitely worth picking up.

Description of Wanted (Limited Edition Collector's Gift Set) [Blu-ray]Wesley?s (James McAvoy) life is over ? his pathetic old one, anyway? Fortunately, it is all because of a girl. Enter sizzling-hot Fox (Angelina Jolie), who crashes into his life and introduces him to the Fraternity, a secret society of assassins, led by the enigmatic Sloan (Morgan Freeman). Seems Wes?s long-lost father was killed while working for the Fraternity and Wes has been selected to target the rogue member who murdered him. But before he can complete his assignment, Wes must first uncover the dark secrets behind the Fraternity in order to determine his own destiny. As the impresario behind gravity-defying Russian blockbuster Night Watch, it's inevitable that Hollywood would come calling for Timur Bekmambetov. With a studio budget and an international cast, including two Oscar winners, Timur cooks up a Hong Kong-styled actioner bursting with fast cars and big guns. Our unlikely hero is mild-mannered Chicago accountant Wesley Gibson (Atonement's James McAvoy), whose father died when he was a tot. Wesley never learned to stand up for himself, and his girlfriend, boss, and best buddy all take advantage until the seductive Fox (Angelina Jolie) rescues him from a sharpshooter named Cross (The Pianist?s Thomas Kretschmann). After which, she whisks him away to a mansion on the edge of town to meet the other members of the Fraternity, where leader Sloan (Morgan Freeman) informs Wesley that Cross, a rogue agent, executed his father. Sloan believes Wesley has the goods to take him out, so he undergoes the Fraternity's brutal training regimen (Marc Warren and Common dish up some of the abuse). When he's ready, Sloan sends him out to fulfill his duty, but matters become complicated when Wesley finds out someone isn't telling the truth, leading our former milquetoast to exact an elaborate revenge. For those who've been following McAvoy's career to date, Wanted will surely come as a surprise. In adapting Mark Millar's comic series, Timur offers buckets of blood and a smidgen of depth, but fans of The Matrix and Mr. and Mrs. Smith will want to give this one a look. --Kathleen C. Fennessy
