DVD Reviews of WWE - NWO - New World Order: Back in Black

DVD Review: One of the best DVD's ever released by WWE
Summary: 5 Stars

Being a big fan of the NWO, it's a dvd dream come true. WWE kicked butt with this dvd. They left a few things out, but the dvd was still amazing. You should buy this dvd. It's a true collector's item.

DVD Review: very dissapointed
Summary: 2 Stars

If you are a big NWO fan. I strongly advising you to not waste your money on this. It hardly shows that much. It starts off with a little brief history of hulk hogan, Kevin Nash, and Scott hall in the wwf. For the Nwo part, it shows when scott debuts, it shows when nash debuts, it shows when nash powerbombed bischoff and the bash, it shows when hogan joined nash and hall at bash at the beach. It shows when hogan beat the giant at road wild, it shows when the giant joined the nwo, there's on two different occasions when they invaded nitro and it shows when nash and hall attacked a couple of wrestlers backstage. After that, it shows when they came to the wwf. It bypasses all of the other people who joined the nwo. It just shows some stuff from 1996 and 2002, nothing from 1997-98 of 99. On the extras. It shows Kevin Nash vs Goldberg at Starrcade 98 and Fall Brawl 96. The wrestlers on there is Ric Flair, Lex Luger, Sting and Arn Anderson. For the Nwo, Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and a mystery partner

DVD Review: Very short
Summary: 4 Stars

I own this disc. I am a huge nwo fan and basically this disc only goes as far as the nwo capturing the title in wcw and goes straight to the wwf. this should have been at least a two disc set. it's almost like vince just put it out but really didnt put any effort into it. hell, the new dx got a three disc set and that was just a span of a few months. the nwo deserved a better release than this disc. but it was cool to see a lot of this stuff so i would give three and a half stars. the nwo has too much history to be put on just one disc.

DVD Review: Spitting on WCW's grave
Summary: 3 Stars

Perhaps the name "Back in Black" should have been clue enough, but this DVD was about as comprehensive a look of the nWo as the Monday Night Wars DVD was for the monday night wars. That is, not very comprehensive at all, and oh so WWF-centered.

The first 20-30 minutes of the documentary is what I paid to see; WCW Nitro and seeing Scott Hall barge in and deliver the war promo on Bischoff. Hall and Kevin Nash playing up the Invasion angle to a degree McMahon utterly botched in 2001.

And then suddenly it starts mentioning how the nWo started swelling to include every random ass (which shockingly enough, Scott Hall even admits that to be his feeling---it watered down the nWo to have everyone joining it).

And then suddenly it jumps ahead from 1997 to 2002, with McMahon "injecting" the WWF with the nWo poison, and the latter half of the documentary just covers the nWo from February 2002 to like... April 2002.

So we get 20-30 minutes of the early nWo from 1996-1997, and 30-40 minutes or more of nWo from February 2002-April 2002. Not good.

The bonus matches are mostly throwaways, save for the War Games match and the Bash at the Beach match, and of course the WWF matches you could get on the WWF DVD itself.

I highly recommend reading "The Death of WCW" instead, as it does a far better job on the nWo, and using this documentary to provide visual to the words.

DVD Review: Historic dvd with hundred of flaws
Summary: 5 Stars

I recently purchased this product because I love wrestling. Granted this dvd is never sold for under $30 but if you were a fan of the NWO or WCW, then this one is for you. NWO revolutionized wrestling and its one of the greatest storys to be told. Too bad this dvd isnt giving you the whole story. The documentary on NWO is like any other WWE biography- strong in the beginning but the ending is rushed. After 1996 it seems NWO did nothing, when it in fact it tore apart WCW and cost them to go under. Would have liked to hear there take on that. I dont know why the didnt have Kevin Nash give his take on the NWO. Lots and lots of footage that hasnt been seen in years (or since) on this dvd is what I like. I dont even think NWO lasted in WWE more then four months. You get four awesome bonus matches on this dvd. Yes, it says four but Diesel pinned Bob Backlund in 8 seconds for the world title and that is shown in full. Also, the historic Bash at the Beach match where Hogan turns heel complete with interview at the end. A really good buy but an expensive one. Worth every penny if your a wrestling fan. Its up there with WWE Confidential dvd where you get the infamous Montreal 97 match between Hart-Michaels.
