DVD Review: MORE STUNNING HELICOPTER VISIONS--PROVING BEAUTIFUL GREECE IS NO MYTH

THE "VISIONS OF SERIES" IS ALWAYS MULTI-SUPERLATIVE HD PHOTOGRAPHY. CLASSICAL MUSIC to FOLK MUSIC: A WIDE RANGE OF MUSIC ACCOMPANIES THE BREATHTAKING FILM FOOTAGE AS BACKGROUND. It comes both with just instrumental and the occasional vocal, giving a delicious taste of the Greek language. Of course the narrators also give that spoken flavor of the country as they provide not just names and locations, but bits of history and Greek culture, salt and peppered throughout the journey.
This piece of the "Visions of Europe Series" (no longer available as a unit) can only be purchased now as a single. It's worth it, if you want a way to see all of Greece without spending thousands of dollars and months or years of travel. The DVD is less than the cost of checking on luggage. "Visions of Greece: Off the Beaten Path" is so remote in some instances, it would be near impossible for a tourist to see all that is presenting in this 167 minutes of photography.
The set comes with 2 programs. "Visions of Greece" devoted to the main locations across all of Greece including Crete, Meteora, Corinth Canal,Rhodes, Olympia, Delphi, Athens, and much more. Even added Bonus Footage.
The second program, "Visions of Greece: Off the Beaten Path" is just as beautiful as those gorgeous pictures of the more trodden locations. The Bonus Footage on this program is titled "Even Further Off the Beaten Path." These are the places you'd probably never be able to set foot on, but this DVD give a vantage point as perfect as the one of Acropolis. Fishing villages to drool over.
This is so much more than a travelogue. It's educational aspect cannot be omitted. Elementary through university classes would benefit seeing at least a portion of this program while studying the ancient and modern culture of Greece and how it has helped shape the world. Yet does.
Greece is the only country on the 'Visions of Series' that I have not personally visited. Now, I feel I have. It's that good. The views are of entire villages bathed in marble-like whitewashed buildings, rugged rocky out lands, and Mediterranean water so blue it seems to have been painted, not photographed.
Learning facts like tobacco being a primary crop in one area, kept me glued to every narrator word. The view of the original Olympic arena was astonishing.
The HD photography was so good that often I'd zoom in even further using the remote, from the higher helicopter positions, and see things like the waves rolling over the feet of people on the beach, or a man sweeping steps on an early morning's typical day of work in Greece.
I'm a bit late in finding this Visions of Series, and "Visions of Greece" has been around for a while, but it will never, never, be out of date. Exciting to watch, soothing to listen to, and colorful to the Nth degree. Never will it be out-photographed.
