DVD Review: Sensational Sequel Summary: 4 StarsThis Review Is Based On The Blu-Ray Version Of Underworld:Evolution...
After watching the Original Underworld(Blu-Ray)Three times in the first week I owned it,I had fallen in love with the story and the charecters(Especially Kate Beckinsale).
I was a little cautious that the sequel may not be quite as good as the first Underworld, and in some ways I was right.
As far as action is concerned Evolution takes the title hands down. With much more hand to hand fighting and less gun play Evolution packs the action in almost every moment of the movie.
Marcus, the newly awakened Vampire Elder has a look that is one of a kind, and fits the tone of the movie very well.
Without giving away information that would ruin the movie for those who have yet to see it,I will leave the rest of the details for the audiance.
The storyline in this movie is not as original and developed as in the first movie. It is still an interesting story but does need the help of the first movie to have it completely understood.
Other then a slightly weakened storyline, that is still interesting and engulfing, this movie is one of the better sequels I have Ever Seen.
DVD Review: A very good sequel to a very good movie Summary: 4 StarsEvolution is the second of the Underworld Trilogy, and a very fine addition it is. The action is awesome, the chemistry between Selene and Micheal was great. Seeing Micheal's Hybrid form in action was a highlight for me, as well as learning more about the back story between the Vampires and Lycans.
All in all, a most satisfying movie. If you loved the first one, you'll love this one too.
DVD Review: Graet movie! Summary: 5 StarsI have enjoyed the Underworld series since they first came out, and this version in Blu-Ray is great!!!
DVD Review: Underworld - Evolution Summary: 5 StarsI did not know of this movie but was very happy to be able to get it. It arrived in two days. I love it.
Description of Underworld - Evolution (Widescreen Special Edition)The saga continues as the battle rages on between the death dealers (vampires) & the lycans (werewolves) in this fast-paced modern-day tale of deadly action ruthless intrigue & forbidden love all leading to the battle to end all wars as the immortals finally face their retribution. Studio: Sony Pictures Home Ent Release Date: 08/28/2007 Starring: Kate Beckinsale Tony Curran Run time: 106 minutes Rating: R Better action, a bit of sex, and gorier R-rated violence make Underworld: Evolution a reasonably satisfying sequel to 2003's surprise hit Underworld. Looking stunning as ever in her black leather battle gear, Kate Beckinsale is every goth guy's fantasy as Selene, the vampire "death dealer" who's now fighting to stop the release of the original "Lycan" werewolf, William (Brian Steele) from the prison that's held him for centuries. As we learn from the film's action-packed prologue, William and his brother Marcus (Tony Curran) began the bloodline of vampires and werewolves, and after witnessing centuries of warfare between them, their immortal father Corvinus (Derek Jacobi) now seeks Selene and the human vampire/lycan hybrid Michael (Scott Speedman) to put an end to the war perpetuated by Victor (Bill Nighy), the vampire warrior whose betrayal of Selene turns Underworld: Evolution into an epic tale of familial revenge. This ambitious attempt at Shakespearean horror is compromised by a script (by Danny McBride and returning director Len Wiseman, Beckinsale's real-life husband) that's more confusing than it needs to be, with too many characters and not enough storytelling detail to flesh them all out. Aspiring to greatness and falling well short of that goal, Underworld: Evolution succeeds instead as a full-throttle action/horror thriller, with enough swordplay, gunplay, and CGI monsters to justify the continuation of the Underworld franchise. If you're an established fan, this is a must-see movie; if not, well... at least it's better than Van Helsing! --Jeff Shannon
