DVD Reviews of Thomas Kinkade's Christmas CottageDVD Review: Hilariously trite Summary: 2 StarsI actually purchased it to watch with friends for the cheese factor (and because Chris Elliott is in it), and we were not disappointed: this was the most awful movie I have ever seen. Every line was painfully overwritten and unnatural, the plot was trite and predictable, and I cannot fathom a person having a genuine emotional respose to it.
The whole thing was so poorly done it nearly moved me to tears...from laughter!
There's a part near the end where Jared Padalecki was giving a heartfelt speech to Peter O'Toole and O'Toole was staring at him like there were zombies behind him about to rip his head off. Why they thought that take was OK to commit to film, I'll never know.
I gave it two stars rather than the one that it earned just because it made me laugh. If you get humor and irony, get a cheap copy of this to show at your next party. If you love it for real...I'm sorry.
DVD Review: What a great Movie Summary: 5 StarsI bought this movie for my wife. We started to watch it on the family network over Christmas and then could not finish it. It is a true and wonderful story of one of our countries greatest artists, the struggles he and his family went through and how his life was cast. As important is the great message that is shared about his mom. Get it and you will have a great movie for every Christmas and hopefully throughout the year.
DVD Review: Thomas Kinkade's Christmas Cottage Summary: 4 Stars This product came in a very timely manner and in excellent condition. It's a sweet story of how light became such an influence in Mr. Kinkade's paintings. Heartwarming!
DVD Review: Perfect Gift for the Christmas Holiday!! Summary: 5 StarsI think that this movie is totally amazing. It has the magical feeling of Christmas and holiday cheer in it.Jared Padalecki and Aaron Ashmore were very talented in the movie.I recommend this movie to the ones who wants to have a delightful holiday season.
DVD Review: A movie like a Kincade picture Summary: 3 StarsThis is a movie which is sure to divide people. It is based on the early life of Thomas Kinkade, "the painter of light". It is a story of the sources of his inspiration:his mentor, and how the difficulties faced by his mother provided a motivation through which he began to find himself. Its weakness is that it isn't sure of its own purpose. It is certainly not a biography or a christmas movie in the ordinary sense and its comedic moments often miss the mark.In many ways it is like a Kinkade picture: a little sugary and sentimental yet with a warmth and humanity that can touch our hopes for a world where we all have a place and where everything comes out alright in the end However,it it isn't grounded in the reality of the world as we know it. The script is very uneven, occasionally very hammy, yet produces some fine moments. Peter o' Toole's performance as Tom's mentor, rapidly approaching dotage and a loss of his powers is a fine one and justifies a viewing.I also enjoyed the background music. Not for anyone who shrinks from sentimentality, but overall I'm glad I watched it.
