DVD Reviews of The Story of ODVD Review: Like Emmanuelle this French movie was critically controversial... Summary: 3 Stars"Story of O" is luxuriant, nicely photographed, and Corinne Clery is quite appealing as a sensual actress...
The film is an adaptation of Pauline Reage's novel about a young girl called O and her entry into the art of loving... The special philosophy here is that women, by nature, are inferior to men and should therefore submit to their every emotion and desire. This is the only way for a woman to find ecstasy...
O falls in love with a practitioner of this doctrine, and is forced to go through quite a lot before he will take her in...
The treatment of eroticism is slow and careful... O is initiated into a house of bondage where the women are playthings for the male clientele... No talking or complaining is permitted... If the rules are broken, they are "punished" in the collar with whips and chains...
One can call this film a lot of things, but "subtle" isn't one of them... Still, it's not overly offensive either, despite its extremely one-sided view of femininity... It does have a seductive quality, and we are attracted into its exotic fact or assumption largely because of Corinne Clery's beauty and sensuality...
DVD Review: One Woman's Freedom Summary: 5 StarsThis is a very stylized film of one woman's quest to gain freedom in a world where such eclectic desires are often kept to one's self. It is actually tame or yet highly erotic depending on your point of view. I saw it many years ago but was very impressed with Udo Kier's performance. He's rather enigmatic in his quest for that special kink he desires. Corinne Clery fits the role of O quite visually with her sense of innocence or is it really innocence? Thought provoking.
DVD Review: A classic Summary: 4 StarsOne of the best movies of this genre, well, it made it's own genre I suppose...
Sexy, shocking, with an actual love story behind it all...
You've seen enough and heard enough of this to know the basic story... I'll just say it's not for everyone, but it's a very good movie... indeed....
DVD Review: Corrine Clery Summary: 5 StarsNot much more to say that others haven't repeated amongst each other, other than the fact to me anyway, Corrine Clery's facial features bear a striking resemblance to that of actress Demi Moore.
DVD Review: Good movie, interesting concept. Summary: 5 StarsEnjoyable bdsm lifestyle movie, would watch again, this movie is based on the book (same title) of a young woman taken by her lover to be trained as a sex slave, given to her lover's step brother, is a love story. A classic bdsm item.
Description of The Story of OIn a strange secluded chateau a woman know only as O (Corinne Clery) is introduced to sadomasochism by her lover: he whips her chains her and watches her make love to and beat up others. In the process of "proving her love" for him she gives up everything- even agreeing to be branded -- to provide him with pleasure. This adaptation of Pauline Reage's best-selling erotic novel was directed by Just Jaecklin (EMMANUELLE).System Requirements:Running Time: 98 minutesFormat: DVD MOVIE Genre:?MATURE/ADULT Rating:?NC-17 UPC:?880934123392 Manufacturer No:?SOM-DV2339 A milestone of cinematic eroticism, The Story of O was an art house sensation in 1975, and it's still worthy of intelligent discussion. As with the controversial French novella by Pauline R?age, reactions to Just Jaeckin's sumptuous adaptation range from moral outrage to masturbatory indulgence, yet this remains one of the few sex films that stand the test of time (and a lot of academic study). Championed by practitioners of bondage and discipline and vilified by feminists, this metaphorical "love dream" (as Jaeckin has called it) follows the beautiful fashion photographer "O" (Corrine Clery) as she, like many gorgeously naked women before her, is "trained" for a seemingly satisfying life of love and discipline, her freedom sacrificed to the man (Anthony Steel) whom she willingly obeys. The debate whether Jaeckin's feminine-empowerment ending, which differs from that of the novella, justifies a story of humiliating submission is just one more reason why The Story of O endures.
