I bought this VHS and book years ago and taught myself to hit the speed bag. I got real good at it. People at the gym gather around to watch me. Then I had a bad accident, the left side of my body was crushed. It has taken me years to return to the speed bag. I took out my VHS to review what I had learned and my VHS player ate my tape. I am very happy I found this tape here on DVD. I am going to order another copy. This is a very good training video. Like I said I taught myself to use the speed bag with this video and this video alone. It is a great workout and a great way to build confidence.DVD Review: Learn a fun workout

I watched all of Alan Kuhn's VHS tapes a few years ago and taught myself speedbag in about four months. This is not easy, like flailing away at the heavy bag: the speedbag requires rhythm, coordination and mental focus. You've got to watch the video in segments and then go to the gym and practice his moves. (I didn't find the book helpful; I recommend starting with the video.) Hitting the bag to rock n roll will help your rhythm. If you are a drum player or a dancer, you'll catch on right away. After 10 months I was an expert in all the strikes that he teaches. If I'm away from the bag for a few months, it only takes a couple days of practice and it all comes back: once you learn the movements, it's like riding a bike. While I punch the bag, I dance around the bag or step up and down on an aerobic step. If you're a woman, you're going to want to buy a cheap plastic hockey mask to protect your nose from the rebound of the bag; use it for the first couple months. I particularly recommend the speedbag for women: Learn the speedbag with this video and you will acquire a lifetime skill that will give you beautiful arms, a slim body, and skills that will impress everyone at the gym! My husband got a speed bag for Christmas. He needed instruction as everyone thinks they know how to use a speed bag from watching TV, but they really don't understand how to use it correctly. This DVD is fine quality, the instructions make sense and are easy to follow and my husband is progressing very well. He loves the DVD and his speed bag.DVD Review: Don't just learn to speed bag.

Learn to do amazing things on the bag that most boxers never learn to do. This video teaches you all of the authors techniques and breaks them down into basic movements. It's extremely detailed but easy to follow. After just watching it once I was able to pick up a new technique in only a few minutes. I recommend it to anyone who owns a speed bag.
