Morrissey interviews, or something resembling an interview
seem to abound. Some solo, others with The Smiths. Then
there exists a plethora of CD's, DVD's and books of 'still
ill' people, who think jumping on the Morrissey bandwagon
will make them rich and famous.Oh come on..if only they had
actually listened to a Smith's song it would be a different
kind of interview.
I purchased this DVD not for the content,[because it would
only be a reptition of all other interviews] but for the
sixties cult photograph, with the Brush-Sulzer engine behind
the model. It is a classic Twiggy kind of British pose.
As for the content..the usual 'Johnny slags Morrissey' and
vice-versa. Or do they in reality? "How come they ever became
friends", say some..well did they?? Artistically it was
extremely unlikely. Morrissey was the self-opiniated "poet
laureate", and Johnny the master guitarist. Together they
suffered and complemented each other at the same time. Both
are still artists in their own right, and still performing.
One could say "still ill". Mastering the delicate ups and downs
of the music business. Surviving in the concrete jungle with
their art, which both are still perfecting.
There is no point reversing time and wasting time the mountain
of "Morrisseyism" junk out there. Let alone pay a price for it.
Let's move forward. Check out the British band - "The Cribs" for
Johnny's latest jingle jangle efforts on guitar; and "Swords" to
receive a dose of recent Morrissey via a compilation. Both are
available via Amazon.
