DVD Reviews of The PartyDVD Review: Better than the Pink Panther Summary: 5 StarsI have seen this movie a million times and somehow it adds to the fun. This is my favorite movie of all times. The subtle jokes make me smirk in advance. The 60"s decor is superb and never tires! Peter Sellers at his best. Be ready to laugh till your sides hurt.
DVD Review: Peter Sellers rocks this house party Summary: 4 StarsI love what I call the "psychedelic 60's" genre of movies and this is one of my favorites. The direction is great, the comic timing is spot-on, and Sellers is brilliant and sublime in his performance. The supporting characters are a joy to watch - the tipsy waiter, the (almost) unflappable host, and Claudine Longet. Just when you think the party can't get any more out of control - here come the Russians! And then the daughter comes home with her college friends and their pet elephant (!?). You watch this movie over and over and see something different each time.

DVD Review: British Humor Summary: 5 StarsBlake Edwards and Peter Sellers make a great combination, of course I'm a big fan of the Pink Panther series. This movie had some hysterical moments where only Sellers could pull it off. It's dry british humor set against a 60's backdrop in L.A. with Sellers playing the bumbling guest who tries to mingle in a group of relative strangers with his awkwardness and lovable innocence. Did I mention that he's an actor from India trying to make it in Hollywood. His appearance and accent blurs the line of character and actor. You'll recognize a few famous faces among the guests at the "party". My favorite lines are "birdy num num" and "howdy par-de-ner".
DVD Review: Best Kept Secret Summary: 5 StarsThis is a best kept secret: The Party is the funniest movie Peter Sellers ever made.
That's a hefty claim, especially considering that most people have never even heard of this movie. But I remember seeing The Party when it came out in the theatres. I remember laughing until my sides hurt. I remember not seeing it again for 40 years. I remember thinking it might seem dated and bland now. It is not!
In fact, I recommend a new American tradition. Buy the DVD, invite over friends or family for a "The Party Party", provide a few snacks, and let the laughs begin. It might be their first and only chance to share in an experience that they would likely miss in their lifetime, and you could enjoy seeing the results. Just be prepared when the drinks start coming out their nose.
The ending is a bit dated and the last scene anti-climactic. The rest is classic, and a must for Peter Sellers fans - or anybody.
Description of The PartyGeorgeous bimbos backstabing producers wanna-be stars and sloshed waiters are just some of the characters at hollywood mogul fred clutterbucks party-an affair that dissolves into a wild frenzy of pratfalls and punchlines. Studio: Tcfhe/mgm Release Date: 01/25/2005 Starring: Peter Sellers Marge Champion Run time: 99 minutes Rating: Nr Though this film is a relatively minor one in the massive canon of Peter Sellers, it has moments of absolute hilarity. Written and directed by Blake Edwards, one of Sellers's most fertile collaborators, the film stars Sellers as a would-be actor from India (let them try to get away with that today) who is a walking disaster area. After ruining a day's shooting as an extra on a film, he finds himself unintentionally invited to a big Hollywood party. That's pretty much it as far as plot goes, but Edwards and Sellers know how to milk a simple idea for an unending string of slapstick gags. The result is a film that is episodic and sketchy, but also frequently loony in an inspired way. --Marshall Fine
