DVD Reviews of The Osmonds - Live in Las Vegas 50th Anniversary Reunion ConcertDVD Review: Too much talking and not enough singing Summary: 3 StarsI saw the Reunion show on PBS and loved it. It was a wonderful hour of music. I've seen the Osmonds perform on stage, and I hate to give them anything less than 5 stars, but this isn't a 5 star disc. It was at least 50% talk which wasn't what I wanted to hear. Then when it cut back to the music, some of the songs were just part of a medley. I have the CD, and if they had stuck to the music as they did on the CD, it would have been wonderful. But I was disappointed that the DVD didn't include all the songs, namely the wonderful "The Proud One."
And the DVD was not easy to view. It was filmed in a dark room, with a dark background, and they were all dressed in black. It looked like they were doing some good footwork, but you can't see it, just their whole bodies moving. There were several flashes of light, but overall the whole thing was too dark. Marie with her dark hair, in a dark dress with black hose was barely visible. I rented the DVD with the expectation of later buying it, but I am not going to. I will continue to listen to the CD. It is great.
DVD Review: osmond 50th DVD Summary: 4 Starsenjoyed the video, a little dark for the background and would have liked to see the brothers in a dance routine. Their voices are still well worth listening to.
DVD Review: Osmonds outstanding as they always are Summary: 4 StarsThe Osmonds just keep getting better & better. The whole family put on an Aweaome performance. As they did when I was a teenager. But I think they even sound better then ever. It brought back a lot of old good memories. And I still remembered the words as they were singing.50 years later I consider the Osmonds still number 1. I would recommend this to anyone, who is an Osmond fan.
DVD Review: Great Deal, Fast Delivery Summary: 5 StarsThe vendor met and exceded my expectations. He stated the product would be mailed out within one day, and it was. I received the CDs in less than a week, in great condition, at a price that could not be beat by any of the other vendors. I would recommend this vendor to a friend or family member without hesitation, cuz it's so nice to have promises kept.
DVD Review: Fun Reminiscing! Summary: 5 StarsI really have enjoyed watching this video and re-living the excitement I felt when I saw the Osmonds in concert in 1973! They all still sound terrific and it's fun to see how they're doing now.
Description of The Osmonds - Live in Las Vegas 50th Anniversary Reunion ConcertAs Seen on Public Television! The Osmonds celebrated their 50th anniversary with a sold-out reunion show in 2007 in Las Vegas. This landmark concert featured all seven performing Osmonds: Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay, Donny, Marie and Jimmy.
THE OSMONDS LIVE IN LAS VEGAS 50TH ANNIVERSARY REUNION CONCERT features the Osmonds performing 22 of their chart-topping hits including "One Bad Apple," "Puppy Love," "Paper Roses," "Love Me For A Reason," "Crazy Horses," "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" and a Donny and Marie medley with seven of their greatest hits. Includes a special Bonus Track, "Thank God For Kids."
THE OSMONDS LIVE IN LAS VEGAS 50TH ANNIVERSARY REUNION CONCERT is also available on cd from Denon Records. A whole generation of Americans grew up with the Osmond family, an exceptionally musical family of six brothers and one sister that has enjoyed success in the music industry for over 50 years. In this live reunion concert, dubbed "a celebration of looking back," Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay, Donny, Marie, and Jimmy Osmond perform some of their most popular hits onstage at The Orleans Hotel in Las Vegas. The siblings sing in varying performing configurations including the five original Osmond Brothers, the seven Osmonds, and the duo Donny and Marie. Hits like "One Bad Apple," "Puppy Love," "Paper Roses," and the rock sensation "Crazy Horses" are delivered with feeling and are enthusiastically received by the multi-age audience. The Osmonds have matured over 50 years and their passion for music, innate musicality, rich harmonies, and devotion to one another as siblings are as strong as ever. Interspersed throughout the concert performance is interview footage with Andy Williams and all of the individual Osmonds as well as clips from various historical Osmond performances and interviews. The interviews touch upon everything from the Osmond children's start on The Andy Williams Show in the early 1960's to Donny's and Marie's roles as hosts of Donny and Marie from 1976-1979, the Osmond clan's involvement in virtually every aspect of the music business over the years, and the frenzied "Osmondmania" that swept through America and England in the 1970's. The extra "Thank God for Kids" track by Marie Osmond is especially moving and features a rare appearance by the eldest Osmond brothers Virl and Tom. --Tami Horiuchi
