DVD Review: A Good Presentation of the new Corps, but the Ole' Corps was also extremely effective...

I served in the Corps from '58 to '62, and I have witnessed a lot of changes in the interim. I served in the Corps during the cold war, and did not participate in combat, although I (like all Marines) was certainly trainned to wade into the enemy and cause major damage. That's the Marine Corps way, of course. The new Corps, which is still America's 911 force, is an up-to-date malitia which can respond immediately to any problems around the globe. I really respect our current Marines, but at the same time, I would like to emphasize the basic trainning and effectiveness of the "Ole Corps". You see the old Corps Marines kicked the Japanese square in the rump in WWII. Thank GOD for our Marines, as this country would be in trouble without a shock force that can take the battle to the enemy in short time. So, in analysis of the "Making of a Marine", I give this documentary a 4 (out of 5) as I think it is a bit slanted towards the new (and great) Corps. I am very proud in that the Marine Corps Boot Camp is still a very tough objective for anyone thinking they can become one of "the few, the proud, the Marines" in a short time. It still requires total devotion (mentally, morally and physically) to the standards of the United States Marine Corps. In summation, I think this presentation of basic trainning (the Making of a Marine)in the Marine Corps is very accurate. I only wish I could re-enlist. GUNG-HO !!!!
