DVD Review: fool me once, shame on you...

I got this for my 4 year old twin godsons, who have just started karate lessons. It arrived used, beat up, and in a tattered case. The vendor packaged and sold this mess as new and sent it to me! The dvd was not only very cheaply made, but also so badly scratched that we could only ff to sections here and there, but man was it funny. Not funny good--funny ridiculous. Here's the catch, though: the boys liked this goofy, over the top, schmaltzy dvd! I watched mute and inwardly incredulous, and they dug the thing. Think Barney meets showtunes meets simple martial arts messages. Of course I'm returning it, but my finger hovered between the "replace" and "refund" options for a full minute before finally, reluctantly, choosing "replace." And that's only because I've been searching and searching, and there are almost no martial art dvd options for really little kids. Soooo, I'm going in here (the messages are good) but if you choose to, be forwarned: unless your superpower is the ability to tune out Barney-esque song 'n dance, and too-earnest dialogue, you may have to run not walk to the far side of the home whenever it's played.

Update 12/31: Amazon sent the replacement dvd right away, and it was just as used, worn-out, and defective as the first one! I don't know what the vendor is getting out of selling tripe like this. This time it's the "refund" button, and a change from the original two stars to an emphatic one.
