DVD Review: Great for Lucy Fans
Summary: 4 Stars
While the title may be somewhat deceiving (nothing on the DVD is technically episodes from any of Lucy's shows) , it's still an interesting for any Lucy Fan. This DVD features an assortment of appearances by Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, and the other cast members of "I Love Lucy" during the early days of television. In my opinion, the highlight is Lucy's appearance on the Bob Hope Show. In the sketch, the cast performs a typical episode of "I Love Lucy" with a twist. While Lucille Ball and Vivian Vance portrays Lucy and Ethel, Ricky is portrayed by Bob Hope and Fred is portrayed by Desi Arnaz. Lucy and Desi also puts in a couple of memorable appearances on Ed Sullivan's show with hilarious results (who knew Ed Sullivan actually laughed!) There's also a really fun promotional film in which Lucy and Desi give a tour of the Desilu Studios. The picture quality is not the best, but not bad enough to where it distracts from the comedy. All things considered, I would recommend this DVD for any Lucy fan or anyone looking for some really good comedy.
