DVD Reviews of The HolidayDVD Review: SOMETIMES YOU JUST WANT FANTASY! Summary: 4 StarsI know this film was reviewed as predictable but sometimes you just want to escape and this is the perfect film for that...everyone is pretty, the locales are just perfect and everyone finds lasting happiness in 2 hours (the length of the movie) or 2 weeks (the length of time in the movie). I was entertained and hope you will be also.
DVD Review: STILL WAITING!! Summary: 1 StarsDon't order from this vendor unless you want to wait for a month to receive your order...I'm still waiting and it's been a month! Lord knows if I will ever received my DVD!
DVD Review: Alex O'Loughlin's First Big Screen Part in the US! Summary: 5 StarsI discovered Alex O'Loughlin on Moonlight when it premiered on 9/28/07. Since then I have collected all of his work - TV and movies - on DVD. I love the small part he has in this one, as half of a "kissing couple" in the very beginning of the movie. Alex was already a leading man in Australia before coming to the US, and had to start over from scratch in the US industry. I admire his courage and persistence. After starting out with this small part, he is now a huge success.
Alex O'Loughlin fans - buy this for your Alex Collection! You will be glad that you did. If you don't know Alex buy it anyway - it is a nice little romantic comedy. Then buy the rest of Alex's work and watch his upcoming work on TV and his movie WhiteOut due out 9/25/09.
DVD Review: A great romantic movie Summary: 5 StarsSo far my favorite in a long time. The music is great. The scenes and dialogue are great. Actors did a great job at having fun while filiming. Everything in this movie is beautiful. You will watch it over and over again. Buy it.
DVD Review: Fun film, good cast Summary: 5 StarsA great romantic film for a holiday, or for any season. Nearly perfectly cast, acted with vigor. The movie that made me decide Cameron Diaz is worth watching after all. (And to be fair to her, I have since also enjoyed "In Her Shoes" and "Being John Malkovich.") Jude Law and Jack Black are both fun to watch, and Kate Winslet is, well, Kate Winslet - a woman with a genuine gift. The film seems to get a little fuzzy on its timeline in the middle for a bit, bit is otherwise just a heap of fun. Not too deep, not too schmaltzy. A chick flick for guys.
Description of The HolidayAfter particularly difficult breakups two women (Diaz Winslet) swap homes in each other's countries where they each meet a local guy and fall in love.System Requirements:Runtime: 138 minsFormat: DVD MOVIE Genre:?COMEDY Rating:?PG - 13 UPC:?043396173828 Manufacturer No:?17382 As a pleasant dose of holiday cheer, The Holiday is a lovable love story with all the Christmas trimmings. In the capable hands of writer-director Nancy Meyers (making her first romantic comedy since Something's Gotta Give), it all begins when two successful yet unhappy women connect through a home-swapping website, and decide to trade houses for the Christmas holiday in a mutual effort to forget their man troubles. Iris (Kate Winslet) is a London-based journalist who lives in a picture-postcard cottage in Surrey, and Amanda (Cameron Diaz) owns a movie-trailer production company (leading her to cutely imagine most of her life as a "coming attraction") and lives in a posh mansion in Beverly Hills. Iris is heartbroken from unrequited love with a cad of a colleague (Rufus Sewell), and Amanda has just broken up with her cheating boyfriend (Edward Burns), so their home-swapping offers mutual downtime to reassess their love lives. This being a Nancy Meyers movie (where everything is fabulously decorated and romantic wish-fulfillment is virtually guaranteed), Amanda hooks up with Iris's charming brother Graham (Jude Law), and Iris is unexpectedly smitten with Miles (Jack Black), a super-nice film composer on the downside of a failing relationship. --Jeff Shannon Extras from The Holiday First Look Featurettehigh bandwidth | Film Clip: "Sushi for Two"high bandwidth | Film Clip: "Oh Brother"high bandwidth | Stills from The Holiday (click for larger image) !-- end6pak --> Beyond The Holiday on Amazon.com On Blu-ray | CD Soundtrack | The Films of Nancy Meyers |
