ok i am really open to explotion cinema and this set is not worth spending money on. first off i bought because i wanted to see savage man savage beast, what you get is a cut up version of this film not to mention it looks worse than if they copied it off a vhs-they cut out the part of a man being mauled by a tiger, also they cut the mercenarys in south america out as well you see them for a minute than it cuts to a seen of a bird flying, those 2 seens are why people payed to see this flick in the theater. the other films are really boring for this kind of film etc. DVD Review: This stuff rocks

As I read through the reviews for this item, I can't help but be amazed. It seems to me that most of the people who bought this set had no idea what they were in for. Apparently, they were looking for groundbreaking cinematography and Oscar-worthy special effects and camera work. Just because they had bizarre expectations when watching doesn't mean this DVD set deserves the low rating that it has. I'm going to set the record straight.
If you were like me and were looking to grab some classic examples of exploitation films from many different genres and were just looking to have some fun, then this set is for you. Part of the grindhouse experience (coincidentally the name of the set!) was seeing these movies in their poor, poor glory. The resolution and overall quality is about 1/4 that of my old camcorder from the early 90s, but that's what I payed for! I think I would be more disturbed if I turned on my TV and saw a beautiful picture. That's not what grindhouse is about. It would be equally ridiculous to complain about a bowl of ice cream being too delicious. And trust me, these movies are delicious.

IT'S ACTUALLY A ZERO RATING! Don't get sucked in by the "Grindhouse" monicker... this is a very bad set. Sure some of the titles contained inside the set are tempting, but the video quality is the absolute worst I have ever seen released on DVD. The digital transfer is from a poorly-copied videotape complete with tape "pinches" old VCRs used inflict. A complete disaster, a rip-off and a waste of time and money. Although this set contains some fairly interesting films, it is totally ruined by what is at times ridiculously poor video quality. VERY few of these titles play anywhere near cleanly, and most are full of hideous videotape dropouts and horizontal rolls. This may be Videoasia's idea of "recreating the old grindhouse days", but it's my idea of BS! This is just another of the many quick and cheap DVD releases meant to cash in on the current "grindhouse" craze. And now I see that a second box set will soon be released, to which I can only say: LET THE BUYER BEWARE.
