For any fan of the Carpenters, looking to see their biggest hits in MTV-style or Ed-Sullivan-style form (singing to the studio track), this is a great collection. All of my personal favorites are there: You've only Just Begun, Superstar, Rainy Days, Top of the World, Hurting Each Other, Mr Postman, etc. As a kid, Carpenters was never seemed "hip enough" but the lasting quality of their work has proved my youthful opinion to be just that.
As a side note, the only reason this collection doesn't have a 5-star average, is that some people own the VHS version and were expecting more features or wanted a new audio mix.

I ordered this product before Christmas as a gift only to discover that I received a blank CD. I called and was finally able to get a live person I could understand to receive another CD. I received it 2 weeks later after being told it would take 7-10 days. I gave the belated Christmas gift and discovered that this was also blank. I did eventually get credit for this. The cd comes packaged as brand nGold: Greatest Hitsew. But you will get more use, for less money, out of a roll of cheap toilet paper. The cd won't play on any cd machine; stereo, boom-box, clock/cd player. In summation, the product is completely defective and won't play. Not worth even a 1/2 star review.

It's a measure of the ongoing popularity of Karen and Richard Carpenter that the 2002 release of this video collection in DVD format comes nearly 20 years after Karen's death. The duo's heyday mostly preceded the MTV age, so this 15-song, 55-minute anthology is a bit of a visual hodgepodge, composed of still photos, footage from TV shows and concerts, promo clips, fleeting attempts at conceptual videos, and other weirdness (film of Carpenters albums being pressed on the assembly line? Hey, whatever). You'll see an array of bad haircuts and outfits and a whole lot of lip-syncing, but in the end, it's the music that counts. And the Carpenters' signature sound, with its brilliant arrangements, its lush harmonies, and Karen's exquisite alto voice, was easy-listening pop at its finest.
