I found this video both enjoyable and informative. My son's violin teacher recommended it and I understand now that it's had a very positive impact on him as well as being enjoyable for the rest of us. If you don't understand French make sure to turn on the English subtitles for the brief moments of French. The subtitles do not intrude except when French is used.DVD Review: ..it's a beautiful thing!

This DVD will bring tears to your eyes. My father was a professional violist for over 40 years and got much pleasure from this video. My mother enjoys watching this video at least once a week. It will inspire any young violinst to play with more feeling and overall satisfaction. Just seeing the old footage of the great masters of long ago is worth your purchase. If you are a lover of music, you must have this in your collection.

A documentary film by Bruno Monsaingeon devoted to the 20th century's greatest violinists, The Art of Violin really cannot be faulted.
