DVD Reviews of The Arsenal of MegadethDVD Review: Great ,But I want More!!!! Summary: 5 StarsGreat collection of Megadeth.Just I know there is more Megadeth that is not on here and I want it!
DVD Review: This DVD is good...But could've added a little!! Summary: 4 StarsThis DVD is good, but they could've added "TAKE NO PRISONERS","FIVE MAGICS" or "RUST IN PEACE...POLARIS" then it would've been complete.
My favorite songs "Peace Sells", "Wake up Dead", "Holy Wars...The punishment Due", "Hanger 18", "Sweating Bullets", "Train of Consequences", "Recking Day", and "Insomnia".
This DVD shows why MEGADETH is one of the top metal bands
in the industry.
It also shows you the band from the starting line up to today.
Through 20 years of ups & downs MEGADETH have fought to stay on
top of the metal world & in my opinion with their latest release
"UNITED ABOMANATIONS" shows their on the right track for the next 20 years.
I rate this DVD a 8 from 1to10!!
DVD Review: Great DVD release Summary: 4 StarsSomewhat of a celebration of Megadeths 20 years in the business this DVD is excellent value for money for a number of reasons. Firstly for the fact that it contains 20 music videos which should be enough to satisfy the most voracious metal head given they track the entire history of the band up to the collections point of release. In chronological order, which is an excellent way of doing things and allows the punter to chart the changes in the band and the way they arrange their music. It also means this DVD is somewhat of a history lesson, or rockumentary if you will.
Backing up the excellent video selection are the other main components of this release. Firstly you get 20 minutes of unreleased live footage from stuff from the legendary Clash of the Titans tour of 1990 through to MTV appearances from 93/94 and finishing off with a couple of numbers from the Gigantour of 2005. And an acoustic slot from Argentina.
Further there are a number of smaller items such as interview footage, some behind the scenes and fly on the wall stuff and a couple of other curios. All up this is a quality DVD release as it has a few different aspects and this is a band well worthy of a rockumentary.
My personal issues with this release are in the realm of wanting more. As in I wanted this to feel like more of a rockumentary than it did. The interview footage is perfunctory and of course quite silly. I would of preferred more of a walk through by Mustaine, perhaps in the form of a voice over by him and/or other people involved with Megadeth over the years in order to put some things in perspective and talk about what was going on in the band at the time. And the only mention of the fact that this indeed celebrates 20 years of the band was in the blurb on the back of the package. And a booklet would of been nice. And I would of been happy to have paid more in order to get a more comprehensive package.
But please don't get the impression I don't really like this release. It's really is very good stuff and worthy of a high four stars. A must have for any Megadeth fan if only for the line up of 20 straight Megadeth videos - more than enough to level any lounge room....
DVD Review: I like Megadeth but: Summary: 4 Stars After seeing Dave Mustaine whine on the Metallica DVD complain about how he resented the success of Metallica on the Some Kind of Monster disc I've resigned myself to not watching them so much (Rude Awakening DVD was AWESOME!) and just listening to the CD's because they do have a lot of good songs and he's successful enough on his own without them dudes and all of thier controversy, (I don't think that they can compare to Cannibal Corpe's 'Kill' CD) - I think he (Dave Mustaine & others) stand better alone especially after that fiasco of Lars Ulrich with the file sharing issues that cost them alot of fans because I saw one of the last concerts with Cliff Burton before he died in Ft. Worth Texas when they opened for OZZY OSBOURNE and I don't think they've been as good since; too many bass player changes. Saint Anger sucked in many respects because it was disjointed. I read an article years ago that said that Cliff Burton and James Hetfield were working on a side project called 'Mighty Sphincter', - I've been looking for that record/cd ever since and haven't been able to find it.
