DVD Review: The Real Van Trapp Family

After seeing "the Sound of Music" many times and enjoying it each time - I was fortunate to come across this video about the story of the REAL VAN TRAPP FAMILY. I teach German in High school and have shared the story about this remarkable family many times and now I will be able to show my students this wonderful film. They will be able to make comparisons with the real story vs. the Hollywood version. It connects and is right on with the unit I teach on heritage and immigration. I can only recommend it highly. A few years ago I met Werner Van Trapp, during an Art show in a Mall in Northern California, he was selling recordings and tapes of some of their music and his "Ave Maria" - would send chills up and down my spine. The CD's, the books and this DVD are all great investments you can enjoy for a long time over and over again.
