DVD Reviews of Super Sweet 16 - The MovieDVD Review: Super Sweet 16 Summary: 5 StarsThis movie I bought as Christmas gift for someone who asked for it. But I'm told by her it's a great movie.
DVD Review: Slow and Boring Summary: 2 StarsI do not care for the TV series but its appeal was showcasing spoiled, out-of-control children of parents with more money than brains. However, I watched this movie because of Alyson and Amanda's (Aly & AJ) involvement. Unfortunately, without the reality appeal, the story was boring and the movie draggy. The acting was ok but the plot was weak and the script was unrealistic. I sensed a disconnect between the actors and the movie as if they were sleepwalking through it. It was a waste of all the actors' talents. Watch it as a dollar rental.
DVD Review: Aly and AJ Fans Be Warned!!! Summary: 1 Stars
No matter how big a fan you are of Aly and AJ, be warned `My Super Sweet 16' is nails on a chalkboard!!! Every single last minute is painful.
How was Coleman Francis allowed to make the worst films ever? Simple, they were his films he paid for. There was no one to tell him or stand in his way of making those awful films.
The fact the several people wrote, directed, edited, and produced a film this bad is truly disturbing.
The dialogue of `My Super Sweet 16' reads as if it was written by a 10 year old. "Oh I'm so sure. As if. Like what is your problem? Know what?"
These 13 words repeated for 10 minutes is torture. 90 minutes is enough to shoot your TV. I can honestly not recall the last time I saw a film this truly painful to watch. 90 minutes of nails on a chalkboard.
From these 13 words I was able to derive some type of plot about AJ's sweet 16 birthday party and evil Aly (they're not sisters) scheming to sabotage it. Beyond that all was lost.
`My Super Sweet 16' is truly one of the all time worst films ever made and a horrific waste of Aly and AJ's talents.
DVD Review: Bad acting = cheap movie Summary: 2 StarsI was eager to see this since I was a fan of the tv series.
First of all, the black her, she is not a good actress.
You can tell this movie had a low budget, another reason why it was not put into the theaters, on top of a bad movie.
The plot is basically like the show, 2 girls try to outbeat eachother in parties. But, in this movie, the girls in the end end up realizing they were being greedy and that it all went to their heads, not like the show.
Hellogoodbye performs like half of a song.
Aly was definatly better in this movie than her sister, I have to say.
But they were both okay, the best thing in the movie.
Aj plays a stereotypical animal/nature girl, and ALY plays the rich, spoiled girl.
I could barely sit through this, sorry but it SUCKED.
I think that this movie is best for the younger preteens, who also like high school musical, zac efron, hannah montana, suite life of zac & cody etc... disney kids.
DVD Review: Good Movie. Summary: 5 StarsI enjoy this show and watching these girls and boys plan their sweet sixteens. I find the things they must go through to make their parties "perfect" to be amusing. I also enjoyed the Super Sweet Sixteen movie. I think my favorite part of the movie was when the band Hellogoodbye performed. They are one of my favorite bands and it was absolutely amazing to see them make an appearance in the My Super Sweet Sixteen movie. I think that anyone who would find spoiled kids throwing fits and tantrums over their sweet sixteen parties to be humorous should definitely check out the show and movie!
Description of Super Sweet 16 - The MovieNicole and Jacquie were Best Friends Forever. They shared everything, including the same birthday, which they always celebrated together. This year, however, after a huge falling out the two teens compete against each other to see who can have the best and most extravagant sweet 16 birthday party. Based on the highly popular TV show My Super Sweet 16. Not the MTV television series My Super Sweet 16, Super Sweet 16 the Movie is a story of two good friends' conflict over planning the perfect sweet 16 party. Best friends since childhood, Jacquie (Regine Nehy) and Sarah (Amanda 'AJ' Michalka) are immersed in planning an extravagant, combined sweet 16 party that will wow their friends and benefit a local charity. When Jacquie transfers from a private boarding school to the local high school, she is immediately befriended by fashion-obsessed Taylor Tiara (Alyson 'Aly' Michalka) who is about as different from the student activist Sarah as she could possibly be. Taylor joins the party planning process, plotting to drive the two friends apart, and soon Jacquie and Sarah have become enemies scheming to out-do one another with separate, outrageously extravagant sweet 16 parties. Can fellow student and documentary-maker Shannon (Brendan Miller) help reconcile the old friends or will their sweet 16 mark the end of a life-long friendship? Attitude, extravagance, obsession, and downright arrogance are the primary qualities of this film's main characters, but unlike the television series, there is a glimmer of hope that perhaps charitableness and friendship might just prove more important than executing the biggest, most perfect sweet 16 party ever. Look for hot performances by Hellogoodbye and Pretty Ricky and bonus features including deleted scenes and the best of the television series My Super Sweet 16. (Ages 12 and older) --Tami Horiuchi
