DVD Reviews of Steel Angel Kurumi - Encore (Vol. 5)DVD Review: Encore! Summary: 5 StarsThis DVD is perfect for those who want just a little more Kurumi in their collection. There are four mini episodes that show some of each character's personality, and the mixed up love lines between them.
DVD Review: Cute and Funny Summary: 4 StarsI really liked these four episodes, but I personally think Karinka got a little soft in these episodes. The first one is when Saki becomes a movie star. In the second one, Karinka get's a love letter (awwwwwww!), third one Karumi becomes a women (haha!), and the last one is when a whole group of angels wants to fight Karumi for a kiss from Nakahito! The last one is my personal favorite. Great DVD. I recommend it.
DVD Review: Fun! Summary: 5 StarsThese last four episodes aren't deep, but they're a fun end to the series. Every Steel Angel gets her own episode to shine, and the results are all funny and on the rare occasion a little touching (i.e. Karinka with Nakahito's older brother). Unlike some OVAs that seem like too much (i.e. Hand Maid May), this DVD plays with the series without making a mockery of it or being silly. I highly recommend it.
DVD Review: YAY FOR KURUMI Summary: 5 StarsOkay, Kurumi is THE best anime. And Encore just makes it all better. Lots of laughs, especially the first episode where Saki becomes a movie star. And, if fans can believe it's possible, Kurumi redefines the meaning of stupidity once again for all our enjoyment. I must say though it's funny because I believe the creators were making up for the nudity quota in the 1st 4 discs all in this one, the bathhouse scenes with Saki and Kurumi are pretty funny. All in all wonderful and full of laughs, as they say, "a must for all Kurumi fans!" Plus there's a preview of Kurumi 2, I think it's the opening theme, and the part with Kurumi transforming is hilarious. So please, buy Encore, you'll love it!!!
DVD Review: I love the series and thist dvd Summary: 5 StarsI personaly like this dvd quite a bit, as instead of like most anime's after the main problem is over this does not bring up another giant world indangering event. Rather it simply shows a few amusing events though it is full of humor and quite a bit of what was from the previus episode I like the fact that they don't drag out any Oh I am going to destroy the world villians and just have a few episodes about life.
Description of Steel Angel Kurumi - Encore (Vol. 5)Thousands of fans have followed the adventures of the beautiful and powerful android Steel Angel Kurumi-from her awakening at the kiss of the young boy Nakahito to the climactic battle that toppled the floating fortress known as The Academy. Now find out what becomes of your favorite characters in the aftermath! Has shy Saki gone Hollywood? Can a secret admirer help Karinka forget about her crush on Nakahito? Is Kurumi capable of becoming a graceful and dignified woman? It all wraps up with a hilarious competition between the dozens of Steel Angels who have tracked Nakahito down for a taste of his miracle kiss. What happens is sometimes touching, often funny, but NEVER what you would expect. A must see for any Kurumi fan! The plot of Kurumi ended with "Kiss," episode 24 of the broadcast series, so these four OAVs don't fit into the major continuity. Saki becomes an overnight film star in episode 25, and the filmmakers include some clever black-and-white footage of her performances. But she quits, because going to Hollywood would mean leaving Kurumi and Nakahito. The exuberant Kurumi tries to become not so much an adult as a proper, traditional Japanese lady in episode 27. She quickly learns the traditional arts of cooking, flower arranging, and the tea ceremony, but the effort to be ladylike exhausts her. The OAVs conclude with a sort of no-holds-barred Steel Angel Olympics: Nakahito's kiss is the prize. Needless to say, he and Kurumi end up together. These new adventures offer a lightweight coda for fans of this good-natured jiggle series. (Rated 17 and older: nudity, minor profanity, violence, risqu? humor) --Charles Solomon
