I had been looking in stores for over a year for the movie SPLASH and couldn't findit. Waisted much time digging through the movie bins, never could find it. I decided to look online and found it reasonably priced on Amazon.com and ordered it. It was here within a week and with shipping and the price of the dvd, it was UNDER $10. I would order again.

i hadnt watched splash in over 15yrs and i wanted my grandson to see it. i had forgotten how funny and poignett it was. what a great love story. tom hanks cant lose he is at his innocent best. along with john candy it makes this movie a hit. aftrer watching it 2x's w/ my 9yr old grandson i found him in the middle of the night watching it again. that dose'nt happen often w/ a kid who loves wrestling above all elese..DVD Review: Splash- The Movie

I purchased the 20th Anniversary Edition of Ron Howard's "SPLASH". This was my all time favorite movie as a child. I watched it over and over on VHS until the tape broke. As an adult one day I was just browsing on Amazon and stumbled upon the listing for the DVD.
I decided to purchase it that very day. My movie arrived rather quickly and was in perfect mint condition. I was very happy with my purchase.
For the Movie itself: I always loved the story of two lost souls from different worlds meant for each other while fate eventually brings them together in an unexpected way. What a beautiful and funny tale. John Candy was definitely a great comic and his role as "Freddie" the sometimes perverted big brother to Tom Hanks character "Alan" made it all the funnier. Darryl Hannah's portrayal as the Mermaid "Madison" was also very sweet and innocent playing such a naive girl to the ways of the different world she entered into. This is definitely an 80's love classic.

20th Anniversary Edition!.......Well it's got a good transfer and a few interesting extras, but what it is missing is the actual movie! The DVD has a altered version that removed the fact that Madison only changes back to a mermaid if she comes in contact with 'SALT' water! It doesn't destroy the film, but it does leave a sour taste in the mouth's of the people who saw the original theatrical version. The film is a very good romantic comedy/fantasy film, I would have given it a better rating if the DVD would have given both version of the film! BOOOOOOOOOOO :-(
