DVD Review: Be Shocked and Enjoy

I first saw this film on Ovation TV and I was hooked. The group The Tiger Lillies preform in New York.They are terrific. All the songs are original works. They (both the songs and the group) are dark, distubing and very true. The most distrubing of these is a song called "Terrible" about a man who knows he is terrible and enjoys it. Not for children based on content and the fact they won't understand it. Whether or not your into performance art ,you really should see this. DVD Review: Mistaken identity

I saw the stage play of Shockheaded Peter and its really terrific, with amazing staging and fantastic puppets. I thought this was a film of that show, but it is not. This simply follows the band, who performs some of the songs live, without the stage production. My mistake!DVD Review: Beautiful

Shockheaded Peter is one of the most amazing shows I have ever seen and anybody that hasn't had the luck to see it live should get this wonderful DVD to be able to get an impression of their wonderful performance.

Impossible to categorise, The Tiger Lillies have been singing their own brand of blasphemous ballads, tragic tales and debauched ditties since 1991. The band fuse the spirit of punk with the passion of chanson, while at the same time evoking the disturbing and forgotten music of our dim and distant past, such as religious masses, Bavarian folk music, Berlin cabaret and Victorian English music hall song.
