No Frills- Just Shane fronting the Popes and doing some of the numbers he and the Pogues made classics as well as a few lesser known tunes.
Shane sounds great , the band is solid and the camera angles and film quality is straight ahead- no fancy stuff.
If you're a fan of Shane and the Pogues you'll love it, even as you wish it were the Pogues themselves.

Shane is in great form here, He even break dances at one point and does some nice go-go dance moves during one tune. The Popes sound great and look like they are having a lot of fun during this show. Shane MacGowan first came to prominence as the frontman and principal songwriter of the The Pogues writing huge international hits such as "Fairytale Of New York" and "The Irish Rover". After splitting from the band in 1991 he reappeared with a new band, the Popes, who released their debut album "The Snake" in 1995. He remains an iconic figure in Irish music.Recorded at the Montreux Jazz Festival on July 15, 1995, this is the first DVD to be released of Shane MacGowan and The Popes live in concert.
