Good dvd to practice to. I like the way she keeps it smooth in this video. Isolations have their place, but getting the whole body into the dance is more enjoyable to watch, I believe. Very useful.

This beautifully produced and seamless flow of movement and dance instruction shows us how to integrate postural awareness and movement into sensual, expressive dance. For the new dancer, or even for those who are a little further along, Blanca's visually evocative explanations provide an understanding of movement that will literally change how the dancer thinks of and uses her body. Awareness of spine and head alignment is not only essential to beautiful movement but also to the integrity of spine health and injury prevention.

This video may be overwhelming to the complete novice but anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of belly dance movement will find this to be a wonderful and transformative addition to her practice of dance.

Blanca's instruction is very enjoyable to watch and wonderful to learn from. The introduction begins with cliches but does contain useful information. My only real criticism of this DVD is the music used for performance, which is "fusion" consisting of new age-type violin rather than traditional middle eastern music - but perhaps you will enjoy it.

This DVD belongs in the library of any beginner to intermediate student of middle eastern dance.

DVD Review: The missing puzzle piece

No one would ever make the mistake of calling me "light on my feet" or credit me with having any form of aptitude towards dance. I have purchased a few Bellydancing DVDs that were okay in quality but mainly just confusing. Sensual Bellydance is by far the absolute best one I have received and it helped me to be able to incorporate and smooth out the different techniques I had learned and learn new ones. It has enabled me to put them together so I would look halfway decent or at least so I no longer looked like a rejected cast member of SNL trying to be funny.

Description of Sensual Bellydance

In Blanca's Sensual Bellydance, you will discover how sensual dance radiates from deep inside you; how your whole body can flow like silk, and how your movements can be beautifully interwoven, breathing with meaningful, effortless grace.

The core of Blanca's program is the Sensual Bellydance Flow [beginner-intermediate]. These are sequences of steps building from simple isolated moves to layered moves. Footwork, arm/hand patterns and head angles are gradually combined for the effect of total coordination and effortless control.
