DVD Review: So Entertaining!~~SPOILER ALERT, last paragraph~~
Summary: 5 Stars
This is captivating from the beginning---you don't have to wait thru a difficult 'set-up' period before the film takes off. Like another reviewer said, it is both comedic and poignant. In spite of Jung Ji Hoons (Bi/Rain) immense comedic talent---at one point he does Stan Laurel so well I felt he WAS Stan Laurel, and had to shake my head a little to clear that up---this story is sad and difficult, but constantly moving and interesting, with a unique and fun soundtrack.
He is a single father of a little girl who got his child by default after the mother abandoned her at birth. The child is sick and the only way he can make enough money to pay for her hospital bills is to work as a gigolo, which he finds extremely distasteful, but manages to be hilarious with his interactions with the various older women he must please. At the same time he pursues his own love interest and spends a lot of time taking care of his little girl. There are also love triangles here. It's a complex story.
The viewer decides on the ending. The two lovers get hit by a truck, and a dated letter from the little girl (who is now w/ her more mature mother) to her dad suggests that they live, move away and have a baby of their own.
Or---they die, go to their next life and have a baby of their own.
At the end, the two lovers thank the viewers (in writing) for choosing the ending where they get to live, love, and have a baby together.
I loved it.
