DVD Reviews of Ranma 1/2 - The Movie 2, Nihao My ConcubineDVD Review: Funniest Ranma Movie Ever!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Between the two Ranma 1/2 movies that are out, the second one (this one) is the funniest one yet! Ranma and the gang (including all the Tendos, Genma, Shampoo, Cologne, Happosai, Ryoga, Moose, Kuno, etc) are all stuck on this island during a nice summer day. At first everyone was enjoying themselves playing in the sand and water when Kazumi disappears! At first they didn't think anything of it until she never came back... so the search began. When everyone began splitting up to search for her, all the women slowly one by one disappeared leaving nothing but a peach where they once stood. So how do they try to catch the kidnappers??? Well use Ranma's girl form at bait of course! So they tie Ranma up against a tree and douse him with cold water! He is kicking and screaming hating everyone until something odd happens. A blackhole like figure creeps to him and tries to take him away. Ranma then unmasks these creepy figures to find a monkey-man, bird-man, and a dog-man. When Ranma tries to attack, their leader (this very young kid) somehow beats Ranma up without Ranma having left a sign mark on him (We later find out that, that kid used illusions to beat Ranma). This kid had something special with him though. He had this water which would turn anyone into a man. Well so they look towards the place that kid ran off to and they see an island nearby. So they all get on a boat (Kuno's boat) and go off to the island. Ranma then disguises himself as a women and gets in. He then is told to get ready for a ceremony so he goes to pick out a gown. Afterwards, he is escorted into this big grand ballroom filled with many, many women. Ranma finds the missing women from his group and is told about why they are there. That kid named Toma (a prince of this island)is looking for a bride so they kidnapped every girl from the surrounding islands. This was a martial arts contest to see which girl was the best. The winner would become Toma's bride. Ranma wanting that jug of water (the water that turns anyone into a man) so he agreed to enter the competition. Ranma of course did very well but the prince was not amused. When Akane realized that the women were nothing more than used for his (Toma's) entertainment, she went over and gave him a good slap across his face. There she lectures him on how wrong and bad he was in front of everyone. There Prince Toma chooses Akane as his wife. Ranma of course comes to try to stop Toma (in the wrong way). He tells Toma that Akane is a tomboy, can't cook, has no figure, but the girl Ranma's got all that so reconsider! Akane of course beats up Ranam and then runs away with Toma. Toma and Akane go to his private room and talk. Toma tells Akane that this island was cursed with the water that turns anyone into a man, therefore, men must look beyond their island for a bride. Meanwhile, Ranma's gang started running around looking for the others. They ran into people, faught, ran, etc. Very hilarious! You get to see everyone fight (Genma, Ryoga, Moose, Kuno, Mr. Tendo). Ranma of course comes running in looking for Toma, Toma then uses his illusions to hurt Ranma... how will Ranma defeat Toma's illusions? Will Ranma be able to get some of that water? Will everyone get out safely? Will Ranma tell Akane how much he cares for her????? All to be revealed.... There are a lot of hilarious moments and crazy stunts. This is the perfect dvd for any Ranma fan or not (yet). I would strongly advise buying this great movie! I hope this review has helped in anyway... thanks for reading!

Description of Ranma 1/2 - The Movie 2, Nihao My ConcubineWhen poetry-spouting swordsman Tatewaki Kuno invites Ranma & Co. for a jaunt on his new luxury yacht, the last thing the group expects is a sudden storm to shipwreck them all on a deserted island. However, fixing the boat to get home soon becomes the least of their worries, as all the young girls in the group begin to disappear. As it turns out, they've been bride-napped by Prince Toma, the youthful ruler of the floating island, Togenkyo. Because of a magical spring which turns anything it touches instantly male, would-be bridegrooms have to kidnap girls...and in this case, Ranma's reluctant fiancee Akane is one of them! The second theatrical feature in this popular series, based on Rumiko Takahashi's manga, continues the comic adventures of a clutch of mismatched teenaged martial artists and their families. In the best anime tradition, the girls are buxom and long-legged, and sport minimal outfits that cover less of them than do their cascades of hair; the guys are slim, cute, and somewhat thick-witted. The gang wrecks a yacht on the mysterious floating island of Togenkyo, ruled by Prince Toma, who's been seeking a bride by kidnapping girls wherever he drifts. Naturally, Toma is attracted to Akane, Ranma's fractious girlfriend. Ranma sets out to rescue her, but the dark-haired boy is transformed into a busty, red-haired girl whenever he's splashed with cold water. When the inevitable transformation occurs, Ranma finds him/herself as a bridal candidate, competing doggedly in such off-the-wall events as "survival flower-arranging" and "obstacle-course cooking." Some Western viewers may take offense at the lighthearted treatment of kidnapping and the lecherous little old man who steals the tops from the girls' bathing suits. But Takahashi and Iuchi play everything for laughs, including a subplot involving the water from an enchanted spring that turns everything it touches irrevocably male--the obvious solution to Ranma's problem. The results are fast-paced and zany, but don't always make much sense. --Charles Solomon
