I really like this workout video. It leaves me feeling both physically and mentally relaxed, which is what a good workout should do. Rael Pilates is a thorough and comprehensive pilates workout. Rael provides effective form cues for the most part but for some reason never explains the Pilates stance with hips rotated externally. I like how he provides a few minutes of warmup and incorporates some yoga moves such as down dog and child's pose. Be aware that there are some advanced Pilates exercises, which if you are beginning you may want to skip. DVD Review: Excellent intermediate mat workout

I just worked through this DVD for the first time and was very impressed. I've been doing Pilates for almost a year, first at a gym and then using various videos, and this workout was challenging but not agonizing; I felt great at the end. I liked Rael's focus on form and his encouragement (which wasn't over the top or annoying at all). He also has you do more repetitions of each exercise than most Pilates DVDs, and I liked that because it gave me more time to perfect my form. DVD Review: Good workout

I have done Pilates with instructors, at the gym, at home, & I have tried several Pilates DVDs, including titles by Gaiam & The Classical Pilates Technique. The Classical Pilates Technique DVDs are a very good reference for showing correct form of individual exercises, but not so good to use as a routine. The Rael Pilates System 27 DVD is very good for a session at home. Rael does a good job of focusing on correct form & breathing, and the exercises are varied & challenging enough to help build great core strength. Although Rael does show some modifications, beginners may have a little trouble maintaining correct form for some of the 'advanced' exercises. Advanced practitioners may find the exercises a little slow. I would recommend this DVD to intermediate users who are familiar with Pilates work and would like to get back into a Pilates routine.
