DVD Reviews of Queen: Rock Montreal & Live Aid [Blu-ray]DVD Review: Everything you could expect in a concert DVD Summary: 5 StarsFor those of us lucky enough to have actually seen Queen in concert during their heyday, this DVD is a "Must see" and will bring back all the great memories of those shows.
If you never saw them in concert, you owe it to yourself to see this DVD when Queen were at the height of their careers. Freddie Mercury is at his absolute best and Brian May on guitar is untouchable perfection. Old fan or new...You might find yourself in tears a few times, it is that good ;-)
After Freddie's untimely death....we're only left to imagine the performances that the world would never see and the millions of fans who are left to wonder what could have been. Thankfully, we have these performances to enjoy what once was, and will never be again.
Please...Enjoy one of the greatest bands of all time. Simply put, "Queen, there is no substitute!"
DVD Review: Amazing Concert Summary: 5 StarsAs someone who never paid the slightest attention to Queen or Freddie Mercury, I was absolutely blown away when I saw portions of this concert on my local PBS station. So, I bought this disc from Amazon and I am very pleased to have it in my collection. It includes not only the wonderful concert in Montreal but also a second DVD with a fund raiser in London that is truly awe inspiring. I cannot recommend this too highly: if you are a fan you will love it. If you have never seen or heard of this group, you will become a fan!
DVD Review: Queen is back! Summary: 5 StarsAfter 25 years on Panavision now it's time to be on bluray! Thanx to Brian May and the rest of Queen to invest in a highly digitally remastered bluray disc! I've never seen before such a really good quality music DVD/bluray!
DVD Review: Live Aid 4 disc set Summary: 4 StarsI bought the one disc version of this. I was not happy with it because the songs were not in their entirety. I waited until the price came down and I was ready. I am so glad. What a wonderful experience this is. To see the artists in 1985 is an adventure. Even the oganizer Bob G performing is wonderful. Do buy this and forget about your problems for a while and be part of this. A good cause and a beautiful day. It is easy to find the artist you want to listen to. The menu is so helpful. This brings a lot of joy to share with friends, don't watch it alone have people over. You will be singing and taking it in.

Billed as "the day music changed history," the Live Aid concerts of July 13, 1985, were held to raise money to fight the horrifying famines sweeping Africa. The brainchild of Bob Geldof and representing the efforts of countless musicians and technicians, Live Aid was a genuine and inspiring effort to help the victims of an overwhelming calamity. Twenty years after the twin concerts (one in London, one in Philadelphia) were broadcast worldwide, the 4-DVD treatment furthers the cause, with proceeds going toward the Band Aid Trust. The DVD set opens with a heartbreaking documentary on the crisis, followed by videos of the two hit songs that represented the collaborative nature of Geldof's efforts-Band Aid' s "Do They Know It's Christmas?" and USA for Africa's "We Are the World." Since Live Aid was never intended to be released in a recorded format, preservation of TV footage has been unreliable, resulting in some glaring omissions. Led Zeppelin's semi-reunion doesn't appear, and neither does a legendary session with Bob Dylan, Ron Wood, and Keith Richards. Some sets by performers who were popular at the time may inspire either nostalgic glee or head-scratching (Kiki Dee fans, you know who you are). Sprinkled amid these performances are a couple real gems, including a performance by Run DMC, the event's sole representative of the ascendant rap movement. Much of the music here was a passing fad, but the sentiment that brought it all together is timeless. -- Ryan Boudinot
