DVD Reviews of Perry Mason - Season 3, Vol. 1DVD Review: Great show, bad packaging Summary: 4 StarsA great show. If you have ever seen the old Perry Mason show you already know that this is high quality entertainment. Fine acting and great writing combine with quality filmmaking to make a show that can be enjoyed over and over. The Problem with season 3 vol 1 is in the packageing. Seasons 1 and 2 were thoughtfully packaged with 2 discs in each slimline case. With this newest release they have set the standard way back by having those clumsy very easily broken, flopping inner plastic leaves. There are 3 discs in season 3 vol 1, the episode summary for the first and second disc is on the inside front cover, that's fine, but the third disc is on the inside back cover, covering the summary. You have to remove the disc from the packageing to see if you want to watch it. A small point I know but since they had it right in first two seasons release why go backwards to a clumsy, easily broken, poorly thought out package.
DVD Review: Product and service Summary: 1 StarsExcellent remastering of a 50-year old TV series, and prompt shipment. I am looking forward to the next episodes issue.
DVD Review: When is Enough "ENOUGH".... Summary: 4 StarsWhile no one that has found their way to this site could ever doubt the quality of the Perry Mason series or its entertainment value, it's OUTRAGEOUS that we should have to take it in the shorts on this pricing. I "perhaps" understand the first season being split in two due to its 39 episode content, but why in the world should it cost 70.00 to acquire the 26 episodes that make up Season 3 ?????. These guys should be trading with the oil companies. I will not buy anymore episodes from these people. Rather, I will get bootleg copies taken from regular TV, complete and without commercials, where all 9 years can be had for less than 150.00. Anyone want a discount on my my first 2 seasons? These guys need to be taught a lesson!
DVD Review: S3V1 Perry Mason Summary: 5 StarsWell, my patience paid off and the price came down from $35.00 to $26.50 and I purchased S3V1 and am very happy with it.
Will do the same for S3V2.
What a fantastic show !!
DVD Review: Perry Mason DVDs vol 1 & 2 of season 3. Summary: 5 StarsThese Perry Mason DVD's bring back many memories of my childhood. I love watching everyone of them. Some I remember some I don't but it doesn't matter. I can't wait for the forth season to come out. I would recommend these to anyone who liked Raymond Burr as Perry Mason.
Description of Perry Mason - Season 3, Vol. 1Studio: Paramount Home Video Release Date: 08/19/2008 Run time: 624 minutes Rating: Nr "You're that lawyer, aren't you?" a reluctant material witness addresses the impeccably dressed man asking questions about her soon-to-be-murdered boyfriend. Yep, he's Perry Mason, and his reputation precedes him. In "The Case of the Lucky Legs," one of this three-disc set's twelve black-and-white episodes, a policeman who finds Mason at a crime scene greets him with an impressed, "Well." Mason inspires that kind of admiration with yet another heavy caseload of seemingly guilty clients on trial for murder. Episode after episode, one can only marvel at Mason's courtroom cunning that will allow him to identify the real culprit and make him or her squirm on the witness stand until they confess. The cleverly plotted episodes unfold with compelling twists and turns. In "The Case of the Spurious Sister," a husband is understandably confused that his no-good gambler wife, whose murder he ill-advisedly tried to cover up, should apparently turn up in Las Vegas and sue him for divorce. In "The Case of the Garrulous Gambler," a blackmail scam worthy of David Mamet takes a deadly turn. In only one memorable episode can viewers be absolutely certain of the innocence of Mason's client; it's private detective Paul Drake (William Hopper), who has been charged with the murder of a philandering married man who was involved in a hit and run. Through it all, Mason is characteristically cool and confident. In "The Case of Paul Drake's Dilemma," he jokes that his only concern about Paul is that he will be able to pay Mason's bill. Now and then, Mason will resort to unconventional methods to see that justice is done. In "The Case of the Blushing Pearls," he stages a little arson to roust a suspect from his hotel room. A Saturday night staple during its Emmy-winning nine season run, Perry Mason's pleasures are many, from Fred Steiner's indelible theme song, "Park Avenue Beat" to the character actors with the B-movie names (Lisabeth Hush in "Lucky Legs") and Mason's epilogue summations prompted by his befuddled staff ("Well, there's only thing I don't understand.."). This volume is a must for fans of Erle Stanley Gardner's iconic character who are compiling Mason's complete case history. --Donald Liebenson
