Blu-ray Review: Stiller Crazy After All These Years

I don't know why I was not compelled to ever see Night at the Museum until it was given to me on Blu Ray as a gift this past Christmas. Something about this movie just screamed 'corny', so I never took the time to watch. But I sat down with my kids this past weekend, gave it a try and walked away happily entertained.

My kids loved Night at the Museum, and they immediately had me start the movie over as soon as it ended. It's a great little family movie. Family values. Forging relationships. Right from wrong...it's all in there. All presented in a nice entertaining way as opposed to preaching.

And, man, there's tons of stars: Dick Van Dyke, Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Mickey Rooney, Bill Cobbs, and of course today's big box office draw Ben Stiller. Love 'em or hate 'em for some of his sillier rolls, Stiller does a great job in Night at the Museum.

Stiller is the new night watchman at The American Museum of Natural History in NYC, and it turns out that he has more on his hands to watch over than priceless artifacts...any replicas of anything living indeed comes to life after hours. But that's only half his trouble; there are some crooks planning a heist, and it's up to Stiller to stop 'em.

Night at the Museum 2: Escape from the Smithsonian is scheduled for 2009 with Stiller and Shawn Levy back to direct...the two ingredients that would be most necessary to a successful sequel. Can't wait...and next time I won't!
