DVD Reviews of Mystery Science Theater 3000 - Eegah

DVD Review: Sunburn-Dork, Clyde-Bwana Dadda & Beehive Girl vs. Neander-lark Lemon!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have just ordered this thing after watching it on YouTube. The movie is icky & stupid. The riffs are comedic gold! Poor Joel's botched "plastic surgery"-via-Bots is wizz-your-pants-and-burst-your-sides LAFFS! Also the philiosophical musings on Hell give great chuckles & the sight of Robots taking showers (to wash off one YUCKY B-Flick) & Joel "Pork-O-Rina" (WHOONK! WHOONK! WHOOOONNNNKK!!!) is worth the price of the DVD alone. I can't wait to see it!....IN EEGAH!: SEE...The pith-helmeted creepy anthropologist Dad! GASP...at his lovely 30-Something-Teenage Daughter (who's a bit 'too close for comfort'...don't think about it)! SHUDDER...at the sunburnt Garbage-Pail Kid under the unfortunate delusion that he's Elvis (but looks more like a young Mickey Rooney)! MARVEL...in horror, disgust & pity at the 7 foot tall Caveman (who's strangely the best character in the flick) who keeps his mummified, man-jerkied loved ones around...Ed Gein-style! YES! SEE "EEGAH!" AND YOU'LL NEED A SHOWER!...SEE "EEGAH!" AND WON'T EAT FOR A WEEK!...Keep it around during Lent or whilst dieting & PICTURE THE VISION OF EEGAH GETTING SHAVED AND SCHLOBBERING UP THE HAIRY SHAVING CREAM when you're tempted to eat that cream pie! Yes! It's Hillarious! It's Gross! It's EEGAH!...Right on MST3K....The way it SHOULD BE SEEN!!!......Oh don't forget Joel's facejob..............and Watch Out For Snakes!.......................

DVD Review: Since my baby left me
Summary: 2 Stars

Filmed in Palm Springs in an exotic t desert location. Roxy (Marilyn Manning) almost runs over a man (Richard Kiel) with an enormous uh...err...club. She tells he father and tacit boyfriend Tom (Arch Hall Jr.) who of course believe her (yah sure).

The father plans to make a novel about this novel person. To do this he dawns a "Call Me Bwana" African kaki outfit with pith helmet and takes a helicopter 10 miles to mysterious Shadow Mountain. There he disappears.

To the rescue are daughter Roxy, Tom and Tom's dune buggy. Roxy gets a good look at the giants club "Eagan" and cannot get over thinking about it. The giant gets a good sniff of Roxy and cannot get over thinking about it. Will true love takes its course between beings form different ages or will it end in tragedy?

"There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of
God came unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown."
Genesis 6:4 KJV

The Spy Who Loved Me

DVD Review: A perfect MST3K vehicle
Summary: 5 Stars

Very funny, and a good place to start for a new Mystery Science Theater viewer.

This was a schlocky 60's teen film where caveman Eegah(a desert sulfur spring serving as his fountain of youth) falls head over heels for Roxie, the teen heroine. (Personally, I thought Roxie was rather skankish, probably pushing 30, and I thought one of the Bots made a good remark about her being "shaped funny" during her bikini scene).

Teen hero played by dorky Arch Hall Jr. is lampooned mercilessily and justifiably by the MST3K crew. Speaking of dork -- Roxie's dad is played by real life father Arch Hall Sr. The apple didn't fall far from the tree in that family.

Lots of delightfully wierd stuff . . . the caveman has his mummified dead family propped up in the cave . . . Dad basically hands his daughter over to the pawing, hormone gushing neanderthal . . . and how about the uncomfortably inappropriate scene where Roxie sings to her Dad while shaving him! YIKES!! I found myself trying to see what he was doing with his hands!

The Bots were also on their game during the commercial breaks. They set up a machine to transform Joel's face to look like Arch Hall Jr. And Tom Servo freezes Crow down to absolute zero . . . and he disintegrates.

DVD Review: SO Funny!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of the best MST3K episodes with Joel in my opinion. I usually like the later episodes the best, but this particular episode just never has dull points. How could a movie with a cabbage patch Elvis be unfunny? Highly reccomend Eegah!

DVD Review: 'Watch out for snakes'

Nuff said really! Love this film

As Egah rips out and holds aloft swimming pool steps: 'That's a strange thing to weild.'

Description of Mystery Science Theater 3000 - Eegah

Studio: Wea-des Moines Video Release Date: 04/25/2000
A classic episode of the cult television series (in which an amiable space janitor and his metallic pals are forced to watch and deliver a sardonic running commentary on terrible movies), "Eegah" stars the gargantuan Richard Kiel (who would later become known for his sensitive portrayal of Jaws in a couple of the Bond films) in the title role as a still-kickin' Neanderthal looking for a little love in swinging 1960s California. One of the worst (or best, depending on your point of view) films ever to be featured on the show, this excruciating waste of celluloid provides ample fuel for Joel and the 'bots to deliver a wildly diverse, sustained barrage of hilarity (including an in-depth discussion of the widowed dad dichotomy of '60s sitcoms) at the source material's full expense. Enjoy, and remember to "watch out for snakes." (You'll understand after viewing.) --Andrew Wright
