Nice instructional DVD. It is a bit of an older DVD but still awesome stuff. I plan on getting the other more recent Portnoy DVD's but figured on starting with this one first. Great instruction and decent price.DVD Review: A good instructional DVD

As far as Portnoy DVD's go, this is the most basic. It has very good basic instructions for double bass technics. His odd time signature instructions are pretty much the same as in his Liquid Drum Theater DVD. This DVD comes with sheet music for practicing.
Portnoy has a wonderful on-camera persona, the best of any drummer I have watched. He is interesting and friendly. He occasionally displays a keen sense of humor and is willing to share his knowledge.

Mike makes it looks SOOOOOO easy. His ability to improvise on complicated meters is simply amazing. What a drummer.
He breaks things down; then builds it up as his embellishments become more and more complicated.
