A friend recommended that I invest in this DVD. Both of us received our Nikon D90s in March and it was the first DSLR for the both of us. This video was extremely informative his introduction to the camera and features. He also offered great advice on recommended settings that have worked out beautifully for me. I use my camera almost daily and this DVD is a fantastic reference for those who are more visual and don't have a mentor to give them hands on assistance. I bought D90 recently and do not have any prior experience in Photography. Even though this DVD covers basic control settings and menu options that are good to use most of the time with D90, it provided very basic information on "how to & why" for different shooting scenarios. Unfortunately, I cannot agree with the previous reviews.
The video on the DVD of about 90 minutes length gives you a VERY basic introduction to the features of the Nikon D90 explaining for example how program and aperture priority modes work. (The few recommendations beyond that represent in most cases the personal opinion of the presenter, not generally accepted facts).
The Nikon D90 is a semi-pro digital SLR, and if you bought that camera, I think you're most likely not the kind of photographer who needs such a basic introduction.
What I also didn't like was that there's much advertising for other Magic Lantern products in the video.
So, if you like to learn ALL the functions and features of your new camera, I would recommend to read the (really informative - and free!) camera manual instead.

I bought this gift for my father for Christmas, he was looking for a book on the D90, but none are currently available, so i thought a DVD would be better. AND BOY WAS I RIGHT! This DVD is very professionally done, and it can literally show and walk you through all the features as opposed to a book which is more limited in showing multiple images and steps in a print format. With the video, they literally just show you each step and it's very detailed and thorough. He enjoyed it, and plans to watch it a couple of times. THey also share some tips at the end which are really helpful to hear a professional share. Enjoy if you don't like to keep a book or flip through those!
