A longtime Tommie Agee fan from Brooklyn, I finally picked up this DVD title. While I expected the 1969 series section to be based on old television footage, MLB productions could have supplemented the game footage with interviews of those players/coaches/commentators still alive. I forgot that Yogi Berra was the Mets' first base coach during the series. And the way Mark Bellanger would choke up on his bat. The 1986 footage is more disappointing. I would say the 1986 section actually detracts from the actual drama of the games. It is presented so flatly. And where are interviews with Mookie Wilson and Bill Buckner? The soundtrack is also a bit strange as they seemed to used canned stadium sounds instead of the actual sounds of the game.DVD Review: Wonderful Baseball

New York relied on pitching from Tom Seaver and Jerry Koosman, and the hitting of Tommie Agee and Cleon Jones to register the Club's first 100-win season. The 1969 World Series? matched the Miracle Mets against the Baltimore Orioles?. The defense of Ron Swoboda and Agee, as well as dominant pitching and timely hitting, led the Mets to their first World Series title.It took the 1986 Mets two games to recover from a grueling NLCS?, and then the fiery Lenny Dykstra led the charge. With two road victories pushing the Fall Classic? back to Shea Stadium, the stage was set for Game Six--and arguably the most remarkable comeback in baseball history, a victory sealed when Mookie Wilson's grounder to first went past Bill Buckner allowing Ray Knight to score the winning run. The other film is of the 1986 Mets, the squad led by Keith Hernandez, Gary Carter, Darryl Strawberry, and Dwight Gooden that pulled victory from the jaws of defeat at the expense of the Boston Red Sox and goat-horn candidates Bob Stanley and Bill Buckner, who played key parts in the crucial game 6. The film is also a product of its era--dig that funky '80s music, as well as narrator Vin Scully's forced use of the phrase "True Colors" just so the soundtrack can cue up Cyndi Lauper.
