DVD Review: Nicely done for Pavarotti fans.

This bio did not just "start at the beginning and go to the end". It is a very well-conceived piece--albeit with a rosy spin--created for Pavarotti fans. For the sake of his adoring fans, this piece concentrates on Pavarotti's many positive aspects, dipping back into his history and bringing the viewer up to date with the fully realized star. There is lots of material, some really good singing, lots of conversations, and delightful visuals. You get a sense of perspective. You will enjoy watching this great big fabulous tenor throughout his career.
Back to the rosy spin. This is not an in-depth, comprehensive, fully informative documentary on Luciano Pavarotti. As I said, the many, many positive aspects of Pavarotti are treated, and treated well. The rest of it is touched with a very light hand; no lies; just not the whole truth. We are spared the nitty-gritty that--Who knows?--may have served to increase our appreciation of the man. Life in Seven Arias is not about that. Don't expect to understand Pavarotti; do expect to enjoy him.
In conclusion: I enjoyed this DVD, and will watch it again. Luciano Pavarotti gave his audience a lot of joy in his lifetime. Life in Seven Arias keeps giving that.
