DVD Review: Agree with Goldencat - Carla 3/29/07 review

I have tried Playboy's Tantric Lovemaking Playboy - Making Love Vol. II - Tantric Lovemaking which was presented well & I learned a few things & have reviewed it on that page. The emphasis being on focused intention of energy was great. I also have tried "Breath of Tantric Love" which doesn't have nudity but you really feel that intense true focused intention of sharing/connection that you are looking for. These are great choices.
This DVD instead, (I luckily only paid a smaller price), was very nice, and boring. The host talked very slow & carefully. She emphasised on needing sculptures, pictures, candles & sacred alter in order to do tantra. This is WRONG. There's nothing wrong with wanting to be surrounded by beautiful art & photos of happy times, but you should NOT be focusing on them, only on your lover. She also went on about clamps for the breasts & on & on about toys. One scene with a couple had so many, I thought they raided an adult store.
There are about 3 couples in a living room with a host while she speaks and also those couples demonstrating what she is talking about. It is real & not faked & full nudity on both genders.
One couple that Goldencat mentioned is right, he looked very shy/scared & unsure of himself. This is exactly how you should NOT feel with your lover, even if your first time, you should just go slower & add humor or free to laugh to keep from worrying about performance & thinking so much. Only one couple were very confident/relaxed & you COULD feel the energy between them. THAT is tantra. If you have to keep checking, asking, worrying if your love is happy, that will kill any connection or enjoyment that was there or could have been there. You should go with your instincts which is what reads what your lover wants. To learn that, that is demonstrated in Breath of Tantric Love DVD or just go slower & do much more foreplay, exploring each other's body before moving on. If you're bored, you're not connecting which is a reason that is from outside the bedroom usually.
This DVD would only bore men & confuse women more thinking they need 20 min of a couple saying how much they love each other, going over every single happy memory, lighting incense, having a room full of sexual toys, erotic artwork, lighting enough candles to burn down a house before each time they have sex or think their lover doesn't love them. This is exactly the wrong brain washing women are taught in Western society.
The only energetic thing the host taught was to put the peoples hands together, but not quite touching to feel each other's energy. Even that she did fast & even I could have taught better. (Yes, I am self-taught that I can already give internal orgasms to men w/o touching the obvious private areas, but was hoping to learn more here.)

DVD Review: Full of Information and Practical Tantra Practice

I bought this DVD in hopes of improving my already very good spiritual and sexual intimacy with my husband. This DVD offers a Dr. that speaks naturally, comfortably, and confidently about a subject she clearly knows. She speaks at a normal rate and is totally believable. The couples look like normal everyday people.

I learned a lot from the Dr. and the information has already proved itself to be valuable in fostering a greater spiritual and sexual intimacy connection for me and my husband.

It is a good companion DVD to have with some of the Tantra books I am reading. I recommend this purchase.

DVD Review: Good approach to combining spirituality and sex!

This DVD is part workshop (hosted by Dr. Patti Britton, who is likeable and knowledgeable) and part steamy sex. Four different couples (who seem like REAL couples) learn how to apply the spiritual philosophies of Tantra to their sex lives. There is emphasis on attitude and stimulation of all the senses, and how to put yourself in the right mood. The purpose is to enhance sex and better satisfy each other's needs. The sex is hot but not sleazy, and after watching this, my partner and I learned how to connect better and feel closer as a result. As the box says, it IS a pathway to great sex!

DVD Review: boring and too religious

I thought there would be more about the physical sexual practice, but this came at the very end of the tape, when couples actually tried some of the ideas. I found it horribly slow moving, besides being more a workshop on the Pagan Spirituality side of Tantra, which I believe is Indian in origin. There were scenes/explanations about making sacred space with figures to represent the male and female organs, and honoring them...lighting candles and incense, and discussing how beautiful these things are. Mostly talk. Picture quality was good, camera angles amateurish. Soundtrack annoyingly "mood setting". It sure gave me a mood! The only item of interest was couples experimenting with glass dildos and seeing one of the men actually use the witholding technique. The balding fella struck me as hard on the eyes.... Key to emphasize: the workshop is a WORKSHOP, and terminally dull as lectures can be. Brace yourself for promoting of Eastern religious practice under the label of "traditional" spirituality. I think the Kama Sutra book was better.
