DVD Review: Good playing but bureaucratic

I have been Roy's fan for years since I listened to his live album and Roy's buzz: incredible playing with feeling and a superb technique. I was curious to watch this DVD 'cause I never had the chance to see him perform live. Unfortunately, I got disappointed. He sounds and acts very bureaucratic, in a "lets get done with it" kind of way. His technique is there all right, but his soul... I am not sure. He barely communicates with the audience, he seems to be playing and signing for himself; at times it is even difficult to hear what he sings. Maybe at this show Roy was already fighting his demons.... DVD Review: A blues DVD to be treasured

I have waited a long time for a good quality DVD from Roy Buchanan. This guy was a true guitar god that was never recognized during his time. The footage here has been around on You Tube for some time but it is presented here in excelent color and sound. Get this DVD along with Jeff Beck's Performing This Week: Live at Ronnie Scott's and you will have complete and fulfilling electric guitar overdose.DVD Review: Appreciative

This DVD is well worth the investment for music lovers...and particularly for guitarists. I'm only a dumb drummer but I loved the performance and music. I recall reading that Roy Buchanan was a little concerned about other guitarists watching his picking and fretting...but that wasn't in evidence on the DVD.
