DVD Review: Forrest Gump of the 70s

I've loved this movie since I first saw it when I was a tween. Dustin Hoffman is fantastic. The span of history is interesting (but not intended to be historical). And the landscapes and scenery are beautiful.
Upon watching it again in my older years, I think it was the "Forrest Gump" of the 70s. Like Forrest Gump, it was not meant to be historical, accurate, and a true-life saga.
I do agree that some of it seems "cheesy" now. But, our grandchildren are going to think the same thing about Forrest Gump when they see it a few years from now.

This has got to be one of the all time greatest movies you'll ever see! Dustin Hoffman is awsome as is Chief Dan George. Great supporting cast and I love the way it goes off into the different lives or situations that Little Big Man experiences throughout his exciting life! Dustin Hoffman is great in this classic Western. It's one of the best Westerns out there. Hoffman plays a cavalry man who ends up living among the Native Americans. It's a bitter story of how poorly and unjustly were these people treated. Unfortunately, they're not faring much better today and the government does not treat them better either. There are some truths in this movie that we're still not willing to face and come to grips with today. This should be a required material for school kids and grown ups alike. We'd be much more grateful for what we have instead of complaining for what we can't buy if we thought about these things more.
