DVD Review: A must-have for Leslie fans

I love this video. I own several Tae Bo DVDs, but I've barely attempted them because I am so uncoordinated I couldn't even handle the instructional DVD. That's never a problem with Leslie, her most difficult regular move is the double side step (I stumble sometimes). With the kickboxing circuits, the most difficult move, in terms of coordination, is when you front kick with your right foot and then back kick with your left. You do several of those, then you alternate to front kick with your left and back kick with your right. Not too difficult, and as with any Leslie move, you'll pick it up pretty quickly.
If you're new to Leslie, I do recommend starting with a different video (my favorite series is WATP Express with the strechie band - least favorite is regular WATP because of the chatter I mention below), just to learn her moves, although they're really not that difficult. Like all of Leslie's videos (I own about 40 - collected over about three years), this is low impact, which is very important for me. I live in a second floor apartment and since I weigh over 200 lbs, I need to be considerate of the person living below me. So series like The Firm and Tae Bo are out, but Leslie is perfect.
I do a 2 mile Leslie walk every weekday morning (since I have several 2 milers, I just pick whatever I'm in the mood for that morning), in the evening alternate between upper body workouts and core/allover workouts (ab workouts/pilates/yoga), and on the weekends I do whatever I'm in the mood for. Walk and Kick is a perfect walk for 2 miles. Great if when you start the day with low energy. It's upbeat and you get the blood pumping, you will sweat and you'll like it!
I like to add a little intensity to the workout, so I use these little orange balls that came with my Tae Bo DVDs (might as well get some benefit from that purchase). The balls are small enough to clench in your palm and weigh maybe half a pound each. I've seen similar products in sporting goods stores. They're great for adding a little more oomph to your punches, plus they work the muscles in the forearm. I haven't tried Leslie's Walk Away Balls with this workout, but they'd probably add even more intensity, although they might be too large.
And one thing I can't forget to add, because I feel it is important if you plan on doing this video repeatedly, the other walkers in the video are great! Carol, Sandy, Mary Kary, and Beth are some of my favorite walkers from Leslie's videos, although it took me awhile to warm up to Mary Kay. They don't talk to Leslie, they just smile and do the moves. Leslie's chatter doesn't bother me, but whenever someone else talks in her videos, I want to scream. Especially after I've done a video more than 5 times, and it's always something either condescending, fake, or completely unnecessary. I usually end up giving the TV the finger or mumbling obscenities at the screen.
Overall, it's great for variety and to get your blood pumping.
