I'm working through the DVD right now and have been pretty annoyed the whole way through. The DVD is basically a teaser lesson for the major dances (think dancing the with stars), with the macarena and electric slide thrown in. The teaser lessons are definitely not enough to look competent, just to give you a taste of each dance. The line dances I thought were helpful, but I couldn't figure out whether he was doing the mirror image or the actual dance, so I had to go online to print out the steps. Turns out he's doing the actual dance, but facing you, so it's really pretty awkward. It would be more helpful to see his back and follow along the steps, just like it would be on the dance floor. Or, have the mirror image.
I thought I'd find the dancing people do at clubs/casual parties, but that's not on here. It's only about dances with specific steps.
For the non-line dances, he spends a lot more time on the male part, so as a female I think it's actually a little harmful for dancing skills, because then I get mixed up between the two parts. He'd be better off just stating it's for guys, and leaving out the female part altogether. Then, have a woman make a video for the female part.
The only part that's worth it in my opinion are the two line dances, but only if there's nothing better elsewhere. This it the first dance video I've tried so I don't know what the other options are.
