DVD Reviews of King of Queens - The Complete Ninth SeasonDVD Review: This rocks! Summary: 5 StarsMy husband and I have the entire collection of The King of Queens. We have literally watched them each at least a dozen times. Every time we watch an episode it is funnier. Of course, we have much of it memorized and use quotes on a daily basis for our own entertainment! This is our absoloute favorite series and we would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good laugh.
DVD Review: So funny! Summary: 5 StarsThis whole series is so funny. If you are a fan, you will love having these to watch any time you want.
DVD Review: An awesome farewell Summary: 5 StarsThe laughs kept coming. This DVD brought back all of my favorite characters from over the years. I hated to see the King of Queens go, but I glad to have the final season in my collection. Its a must have, definitely!
DVD Review: A Very Funny But......Short Last Season Summary: 5 Stars The only thing that is disapointing about this last season is that there's only 12 episodes. I think that was due to Kevin James filming Chuck and Larry at the time. He should have stuck with the show though instead of making a movie with Adam Sandler who makes crap in my opinion. Besides this show is funnier than any movie Sandler has ever made.
All the episodes in this season are worthy last episodes of the series. I mean, no matter how many times I watch the episode where Doug buys an Ice Cream truck it still makes me laugh. The one where Doug goes Vegetarian is hilarious as well. The last few episodes pack both drama and laughs since Doug isn't sure if he wants to be married to Carrie any more. However, watching Doug get drunk due to that is probably the funniest work Kevin James has ever done. Besides the shortage of episodes, the only other disapointing thing is that the show is over. The end is a worthy ending but it made me want to see more anyway.
DVD Review: Undeniably BEST COMEDY Summary: 5 StarsI first started watching this sitcom on the recommendation of my husband. He said he was hooked on it so every day after work, I would sit down and watch the reruns of this sitcom. I totally agreed with my husband. Now, we watch the reruns over and over, and probably know the dialogue by heart, but it still makes us laugh. I feel it was an underrated show, much better than RAYMOND. Kevin James is absolutley the funniest guy around, along with the cast of Leah Remini and Jerry Stiller to round off a PERFECT cast. Also, the supporting cast was great...Deacon,Danny,and of course SPENCE!!!! The last year was not the best for the KoQ,the writing was not all that great but we grew to love and look forward to seeing this crazy but lovable family and friends. It will be sorely missed!!! Thank God for reruns and DVD's!!
Description of King of Queens - The Complete Ninth SeasonNever really say goodbye with the ninth and final season of The King of Queens. Doug (Emmy?-nominated Kevin James) and Carrie Heffernan (Leah Remini) are more hilarious than ever in wrapping up one of TV's funniest sitcoms of all time. Doug decides to spend the Heffernans' tax refund on an ice-cream truck while Arthur hires himself out to ride with solo drivers. Carrie becomes fed up with Doug's new vegetarian lifestyle antics and when Doug's 20th high school reunion turns out to be a dud, his high school best friend comes up with a retaliation scheme against their former principal. Joining in the fun are great guest stars, including Lainie Kazan, Anne Meara and Lou Ferrigno. It's the ultimate farewell! The final season of The King of Queens sends this under-appreciated sitcom out with a bang. The season begins with several strong stand-alone episodes, including ones in which Doug (Kevin James) uses a tax refund to buy an ice cream truck; Carrie (Leah Remini) suspects that their best friends have managed to buy a vacation home by sponging off of her and Doug; Doug, after rescuing a chicken from being killed, becomes a vegetarian; Arthur (Jerry Stiller), eternally resplendent in argyle sweaters, asks Doug and Carrie for the money to get braces; and Adam Sandler (Punch Drunk Love) plays a high school friend of Doug's with a lot of repressed anger. But the season crescendos in a three-episode story that begins with Arthur preparing to get married again while Doug and Carrie's marriage crumbles when Carrie wants to move to an apartment in Manhattan. From there, the Heffernans' worst impulses run comically amok, demonstrating this show's long-standing strengths: The cheerful exploitation of all the character's bad behavior, be it Doug's selfishness, Carrie's envy, or Arthur's raging egomania; snowballing storylines that routinely end in entertaining disaster and humiliation; and the skillfully-honed interplay of the three leads. The supporting cast--including Doug's best friend Deacon (Victor Williams), the emotionally enmeshed roommates Spence (Patton Oswalt) and Danny (Gary Valentine), and needy dog-walker Holly (Nicole Sullivan)--all have their moments, but James, Remini, and Stiller are the show's engine, and it runs like a Maserati. The Complete 9th Season lacks any extras, which is disappointing considering that it's also a short season of only 12 episodes; but the satisfying comic crunch of each episode makes this box set still a must-have for any fan of the show. --Bret Fetzer
