DVD Reviews of JumperDVD Review: I didn't get what I ordered. Summary: 1 StarsI ordered the Jumper Two Disc Special Edition + Digital Copy and I received the regular one disc edition with no digital copy. It would have been nice to know they weren't sending what was pictured or what I ordered.
DVD Review: Better than expected Summary: 4 StarsJumper is an action-adventure story about a man who can teleport from one location to another at will just by thinking about it. The movie chronicles the life of this "jumper" from the day he learned of his ability while in school, through his exploits using his skills, to his final confrontation with his mother, who is a paladin; someone who hunts down and kills jumpers. Our jumper is played by Hayden Christiansen, who puts in another fine job that again demonstrates he is a good actor, contrary to what George Lucas did to him to in the most recent Star Wars movies. The Paladin who hunts him is played by Samuel Jackson, who I believe has played in one too many roles as a government agent. This movie did not fare well at the theaters; unfortunately as it is very good. The script is original, and the acting is decent. All in all, a good watch.
DVD Review: Jumper = Super Cool Movie! Summary: 1 Stars"Hey guys, it's me, Hayden Christensen and I'm starring in this really neat movie called Jumper. Me and Paul Walker both graduated from the same acting school. You can tell by the same emotionless, wooden, and monotone performances with both give. Some people think I had no business being in the Star Wars movies, but I think lots of people loved my emotionless, wooden, and monotone performance as a young Darth Vader.
Anyway, back to Jumper. It's a really cool movie, with lots of cool action, and a super cool chick (who I of course score with!). I have no idea what an actor like Samuel L. Jackson is doing in my movie, but I'm happy to have him. I especially like his Dennis Rodman hair color job, which makes him an even more convincing bad guy! I know Jumper was panned by the critics and I can't figure out why. I promise it really wasn't a poorly acted, poorly written, super boring movie. Please buy my movie and watch me jump all over the place; one minute I'm in Japan, then I'm in Egypt, then I'm in England, and then even Hawaii. What's really rad however is I actually take a plane to Italy. Too cool, super cool actually!"
DVD Review: Entertaining Summary: 4 StarsI'm a fan of Hayden Christensen mainly from Star Wars and Life as a House, so I'm probably not completely unbiased, but I liked this movie. I thought it was entertaining and kind of cool to see what someone would do with this power. Some of the storyline is flimsy, like his quick falling-in-love with the heroine for no real reason, but Hayden does a nice job in the movie, as does Jamie Bell. Lots of great scenery (locations) and fight scenes, cool special effects. Definitely worth viewing, I've watched it several times and still like it.
DVD Review: lame, sorry. Summary: 2 Starsi was thoroughly un-impressed with this movie. i am a fan of hayden christensen, but i think he has had his better acting moments. i got about half-way through this movie, then quit from absolute boredom. if you wanna see a really good movie with him in it, watch the thriller 'Awake'. now THAT is a good movie.
Description of JumperDavid is a Jumper who can teleport himself anywhere in the world, which creates a fun and exciting life. But things turn deadly when David finds himself pursued by a secret organization sworn to kill Jumpers. Forming an uneasy alliance with another Jumper he becomes a player in a war that has been raging for thousands of years. As preposterous action movies go, Jumper is pleasantly unpretentious and breezily entertaining. A young man named David (Hayden Christensen) discovers he has the power to teleport (or "jump") anywhere he can visualize. After using this power to steal and make a comfortable life for himself, he pursues the girl he longed for in school (Rachel Bilson, The O. C.). But as he does so, another jumper (Jamie Bell, Billy Elliot) and a pack of fanatical jumper-hunters called paladins (led by a white-haired Samuel L. Jackson) crashes into David's freewheeling life. Jumper wastes no time trying to explain how jumping works or delving into the hows and whys of the paladins; this is an alluring fantasy of power directed at a pell-mell pace by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Go). There's a brief moment when it feels like the movie will bog down in romance and vague gestures towards character development--happily, that's the moment when Bell appears and the whole movie shifts into overdrive. You might wish that Bell and Christensen had swapped roles; Bell has a far more engaging personality, and Christensen's bland good looks might better suit a more aggressive character. Nonetheless, Jumper has oodles of dynamism and nifty visual effects to propel its comic-book storyline forward. A variety of recognizable actors in bit parts (such as Diane Lane and Kristen Stewart, Panic Room) suggest that the filmmakers are laying the groundwork for sequels. Based on a critically-acclaimed science-fiction novel by Steven Gould. --Bret Fetzer
