DVD Reviews of Judgment Day: The Ellie Nesler Story

DVD Review: Great movie: Judgment Day: The Ellie Nesler Story
Summary: 5 Stars

I enjoyed this movie very much. The story was about child abuse and a pedophile. Mothers should be very careful who they trust with their children. Thank you for the quick turn-around in delivery of this DVD. I will definitely do business with you again. And also thank you, Amazon.com!!!

DVD Review: Justice or Vengeance?
Summary: 4 Stars

It's an emotional shocker of a film based on a true child sex abuse case. Some details of the event were unnecessarily drawn out, which kept the movie from getting five stars from me. Since there is no plot synopsis, here is a summary of the movie.
*A single mother allowed her son to spend time with a Christian camp counselor unaware that the man had a prior conviction for child molestation. When charges are pressed, the boy is forced to face the pedophile in court who continues to mentally toy with the young boy. In exasperation, the mother kills her son's attacker in front of a packed courtroom.
*Is she justified in doing so or is she out for vengeance? The film did an adequate job of detailing the case from the onset to the sentencing of the mother. The probation officer reported that the mother lacked any remorse for her actions, which resulted in prison time. It appeared that, not only was the boy victimized by the molester, I felt that he was being used by the mother to keep herself out of doing time in prison. Unfortunately, during the mother's incarceration, the boy was sent to a juvenile detention facility until she was released from prison. A sad story!!
*CAUTION: Someone has tagged this movie as having nude children, which I did not see. It's also absurd to label the film as satanic, holocaust, and cult in nature.

DVD Review: The Devil Never Sleeps
Summary: 3 Stars

This film is one of the best of its kind to warn parents that no matter how much you trust someone to look after your child, remember, the devil never sleeps-pedophilia crosses all lines.
"If you tell your mother, or anyone else, I'll kill her." These were the ominous words hovering over a young child (Andrew Ducote) whose life changed forever compliments of Satan in the form of a sick, warped camp counselor who sodomized the child while on a camping trip. Little did Ellie Nesler (Christine Lahti) know that someone who she THOUGHT was a good family friend and mentor would savagely ruin the emotional and mental make-up of her child.......FOREVER! That is, not till finally her son had the courage to break the news a year later after a series of sodomy incidents covering a year. Little did she know also that, thanks to loopholes in the justice system, this man was released with probation seven years earlier after a similar crime at that time. A psychiatrist, a counselor, a church friend, his mother, his lawyer, and, of course, a judge had all the confidence in the world that this man was a good candidate for probation. He was given only three years in which to have no contact with a minor without the permission of the court. One would wonder what damage was caused that child. Lo and behold he later is allowed to assume the role of a youth camp counselor compliments of Ellie Nesler's church.
So many Catholic-bashers like to obsess about child molestation connected to the Catholic priesthood. This man was a non-Catholic Christian that committed this heinous crime.
My point? Pedophilia crosses all lines. You could have a phedophile living next door to you, and not know it. Later, in the film, you could practically see the devil in the smirky face of that man at the court trial where he is led to face his young accusers (Ellie Nesler's son included).
This film, however, does leave one wondering about the implications of law: was Ellie Nesler a true hero or a bona fide murderer? Opinions can take two directions-she can either be construed as a bona fide criminal, similar to the likes of Lizzie Borden and Scott Petersen, or we can classify her as a modern-day Joan of Arc, or, for that matter, a prototype Virgin Mary who crushes the head of a serpent in defense of her child. Such controversy leaves one to ponder over ethics and morals in a case like this. Joan of Arc was a "criminal" in her day; she was tried for heresy, schism, and witchcraft and so was burned at the stake in accordance with the European penal code at that time. Now she's a canonized saint. What will people think of Ellie Nesler centuries from now? Will she occupy the ranks of criminals like Lizzie Borden, Scott Peterson, Dorothea Puente, Charles Manson, Jessie James, Al Capone etc? Or, will she swell the ranks of historical and legendary heroes as Davy Crockett, Constantine, Charlemagne, Joan of Arc, Ivanhoe, Robin Hood, to name a few? Only time will tell.
I only know that Ellie Nesler's son's life, since his ordeal and mother's imprisonment, was not the same according to Internet searches I've done into different articles about him out of various California newspapers. According to what I've read, he himself shouldered a criminal record. Hell hath fury with no limit.

This film presents an excellent, talented cast and the acting is superbly realistic. You could practically feel the intensity and the terror and pain of everyone involved.

Parents, relatives, teachers, social workers, priests, police, ministers, rabbis, imams, etc., watch this film, so that our children can have more vigilance against Satan in the form of perverts.
