DVD Reviews of Jillian Michaels - 30 Day ShredDVD Review: THE workout for the time-crunched! Summary: 5 StarsI work very long days and and the amount of time I have to exercise is extremely limited. My main reason for purchasing this DVD was because of the good reviews AND the fact that its only 20 minutes. Let me tell you all something...these 20 minutes will make you wonder why on earth you spent as much time at the gym as you did. I was in OK shape when I started this DVD, but could definitely afford to lose a few lbs and tone up. Its been a week on level 1 and already I feel a difference in my strength and endurance. These workouts are TOUGH but like Jillian says, if you want results, you have to work for them. My arms look better, my face looks better, my butt is smaller, and I dont get winded after climbing 2 flights of stairs. I am looking forward to starting level 2 this week. I was a little concerned doing the same exercise every day but by the time your body starts getting used to it, its time to go to the next level.
Im not sure whether its my DVD player or not but I think I figured out a way to skip the entire introduction. I just leave the DVD in the player and the next morning hit PLAY and it immediately goes right to the workout screen. Give it a try!
DVD Review: Wow is she tough (in a good way) Summary: 4 StarsI have just started the 30 Day Shred, and as I write this, my legs, arms, and abs are in pain, but in a good way. As you are doing it, you feel muscles that you probably did not know you had, and she makes sure to work you on every one. I also really appreciate Anita & Natalie (I think) in the background - one is for more beginner exercisers and the other is for more advanced. People here are NOT lying to you, though - she is TOUGH. There are no breaks, unless you count lying on your back doing strength training. You will have to do 30 seconds of jumping jacks, 30 seconds of jump rope, right back to jumping jacks. It is a good workout - I was sweating so hard afterwards.
The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is because your success depends on what you are tryign to gain from this. If you need to lose serious weight, you are not going to do so from this video alone. Phase 1 burns an estimated 240 - 260 calories, and I think it goes up another 20 - 30 calories in Phase 2. To lose weight, you must burn more calories than you consume, so 250 calories is not going to do it alone. I heard from many people that they lost at most 5 lbs from completing 30DS. I have decided to alternate the 30DS with other exercising in order to maximize weight loss. As long as you are aware of this, I recommend fitting this workout into your exercise regime.
DVD Review: I'm Impressed Summary: 5 StarsBeing older, I wasn't sure I could keep up with this workout, but it has taught me that "I'm tougher than I thought I was." Jillian is good, a little fast on some sequencing (reference the "older"). I have been using this just about three times a week, cause it kicks butt! I pride myself on being a long distance walker, but it is important to keep up the strenght training as well. With diet and exercise I have dropped 11 pounds so far, am feeling stonger and my endurance is way high! I would recommend this to anyone who wants a gooooood, strong, FAST workout. Love that it's only 20 minutes and you're dead, I mean done! Hah!
DVD Review: Great workout for guys! Summary: 5 StarsI thought my wife was silly for wanting to buy a silly exercise DVD by Jillian, the hyped-up "Biggest Loser" trainer. I respect Jillian and have watched her on the previous seasons train the contestants. I thought this was just another way to make money on the marketing of the TV show.
I was mistaken. I just completed my first workout with my wife (she challenged me to give it a shot) and it completely drained me. For a guy that can run 7-miles without a problem and lift weights in the gym for 90 minutes twice a week... that is saying a LOT!
DVD Review: jillian rocks my world! Summary: 5 StarsFirst off I am NOT an exercise dvd type of person, or even a gym-goer. The most exercise I've ever done in 37 yrs is yoga and hiking, and even those i'm not disciplined about. I've wanted to lose 10 pounds or so since having kids and haven't been able to shift a pound no matter what i do. I also needed more exercise for my emotional well being and to help with hormonal issues, but as a single mother I don't get time to get out to the gym or running consistently. Hence resorting to an exercise DVD. And, this woman has changed my life! I've been doing this dvd almost daily for a month now and am hooked. The workouts are intense but the perfect short length for me and afterwards I'm exhausted but feel great. I like her no nonsense approach. I like that all I need are a mat and some weights. I like that it's working all areas of my body and I can already feel muscles I never knew I had. I could keep doing the 3 levels on this dvd for a long time before getting bored. I feel so much better physically, am starting to drop some weight, and have more energy than in years. Jillian rocks.
