DVD Reviews of Janet Jackson - From Janet to Damita Jo: The VideosDVD Review: A must have for a Janet Jackson fan! Summary: 4 StarsAs I started to listen to Janet's music again last year, I realized I surprisingly had not seen most of her music videos. I found this DVD at FYE and I knew I had to get it. It is a great collection of each of her videos, like the title says, from janet. to Damita Jo!
Here is my "Track-by-Track" review.
1. That's the Way Love Goes - A very fun video! Now it's not only one of my favorite Janet songs, now it's one of my favorite Janet videos. - 5/5
2. If - Terrific Dancing! But the rest was kind of weird. - 4/5
3. Again - I love this video. It's so cute. Another favorite song of mine - 5/5
4. Because of Love - The tour footage was cool, and the song is cute. But, for some reason, Janet's smiling in the performance scenes looks forced. - 3/5
5. Any Time, Any Place - Racy (like the song), but the colors are wonderful. - 4/5
6. You Want This - The beginning is funny, and the rap is a nice addition, but the concept is kind of boring. - 3/5
7. Got 'Til It's Gone - Nice change. It's a good concept, although not as exciting to watch as some of the others. - 3.5/5
8. Together Again - I was hoping for a little better, but it's still pretty good. - 3/5
9. I Get Lonely - HERE WE GO! My favorite song, and now favorite video, from The Velvet Rope. She looks amazing. Both the dancing and the way the colors look are amazing! I love the way her red hair looks here! - 5/5
10. Go Deep - Ehh. Cheesy. - 2/5
11. You - This video is what made me buy "The Velvet Rope Tour" DVD. - 4/5
12. Every Time - I love the song, and the video is pretty good. But you can tell that that's not her in the underwater scene. - 3.5/5
13. Together Again (Deeper Remix) - So much better than the first version of the video. I like this version of the song, very different from the album version! - 5/5
14. All For You - It's ok. Nothing worth seeing really, except the amazing dance break! - 3/5
15. Someone to Call My Lover (So So Def Remix) - Great Video! Would get a full five stars if it were the album edit without the rap. - 4.5/5
16. Son of a Gun (The Original Flyte Time Remix) - Again, it's ok. Nothing special. - 2.5/5
17. I Want You - To bad this great video wasn't played on most stations because of "the incident." - 4/5
18. All Nite (Don't Stop) - Pretty cool concept. Great Dancing. - 3.5/5
19. Just a Little While (Live) - Wish they would have included the real video (which is great) instead of this boring performance. - 2/5
In conclusion, this is a must have for any big Janet fan. You will also want to check out her Design of a Decade DVD, which features most of her videos that were not featured here. Also, check out her new CD "Number Ones" which is an amazing compilation album that covers her entire career (minus her first two unsuccessful albums).
DVD Review: Janet at her best, but.... Summary: 5 Stars....we're still waiting for a collection featuring the vids for FEEL IT BOY, WHAT'S IT GONNA BE?, SCREAM, 24 PLAY, and a number of others. Though many of these videos are colabros with other artists, we'd still like to see them released on DVD for prosperty.
DVD Review: GOOD TIMING Summary: 5 StarsI was going to the concert and I had to have this before I went. I got my wish. It was in great condition.
DVD Review: Excellent Choice Summary: 5 StarsThis DVD is An Ultimate for the JANET JACKSON collection. Everything that she did when she moved to Virgin Records. Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis are a couple of brilliant producers who helped janet's career take up & beyond. I know that you will enjoy this collection..........Janet,Velvet Rope, All For You, Damita Jo...This DVD set is loaded..Enjoy!!!!
DVD Review: Janet's the best!!! Summary: 5 StarsI love all the videos. My favorites are: If, I Get Lonely, All For You and All Nite (Don't Stop). The only video missing is Doesn't Really Matter. I don't know why this video was not included in this compilation.
